Has to be done. Sydney isn't going to sell out games so might as well let Melbourne make up their difference. 2 games at League HQ in Brisbane and 1 in Melbourne.

Do you ever post anything of worth? Ever?

Sydney get bigger crowds to Origins than Qld do you douche, check the numbers.

I think it should stay the way it is.
The game needs to grow.

Clever.
Here's another one - Queensland actually sells out.

When it comes to origin...f**k melbourne right off. Keep the game where it is meant to be played and thats NSW and QLD.
This is not the superbowl where cities bid to host it...this is 2 states that do not like each other and which has zero to do with Melb, Perth, Adelaide, Hobart, or even fricken Darwin.

Hell yeah!!!

Im not disputing that fact Shorty but to say that the game is better off with 2 games in Qld and 1 in Melbourne and trying to use numbers to justify it is a typical moronic statement from good ol' Rastus.

Ahh I get you - Yeah well for the record Rastus has been quoted as saying RL shouldn't expand outside Queensland or NSW...so...contradiction much?

Its an awesome idea to expand the game
But you know what else
Its a neutral ground! Its perfect

Should be game three, and alternate 1 & 2 between NSW and QLD

A deciding game three being at Melbourne doesnt disadvantage any team.

can auction off the first game every few years...big money would come from auckland especially

They would have to kick off at 10pm and play till midnight to keep it 8pm on AEST...

Sorry Auckland, and you would need to have a stadium bigger than 52000 I would imagine

This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard, what a joke!

Hey why don't they race the Tour de France in Italy, and while we're at it, let's host the Australian Tennis Open in New Zealand!

Victoria can git farked, lol. I'm all for it being played there this year, just to even up the record from 06 where NSW gave up a home game, but I'd be devastated to see it move back there after this year!

How is Auckland a bad idea? Eden Park is going to hold 60,000 post redevelopment. It is a fantasitc idea!! Obviously comprimise is needed regarding tv times though.

Yeah, give QLD the 2 home games every year. Great idea

That scheduling made Origin what it is throughout a lot of the 80s. Especially when Sydney could sell out Origin. In fact, even as late as 89 the SFS was more than half empty for Origin.

On a different note, how are ticket sales going for ANZ? Sold out yet?:lol::lol::lol:

Sydney, Brisbane or nowhere, Origin has sweet FA to do with Melbourne.

I understand the sentiment from NSW and Qlders in this thread, it is your game and there's every reason for you wanting to play it in RL heartland. BUT, I think playing Origin down here is a massive boost for the code. should be another 50k at Etihad tonight, which is just massive for a sport that supposedly doesn't rate down here. The media jumps on board as well giving the sport promotion - it actually made the back page of the Herald Sun today.

There's also the aspect that says that having a neutral venue each year is the fairest way to decide who the better team is in any given year. Each side gets a home, away and neutral match, meaning there's no unfair advantage to the side that gets two home matches a year.

Above all though, it's great for people like myself who would never get to go to origin. I went 4 years ago at the Dome and the atmosphere was electric, and the footy was brilliant as well. If there's 10k RL first-timers at Etihad tonight, then there's every chance that those people will attend another RL match in Melbourne, as after all, SOO is a great product to sell to newbies.

All in all, I think it's brilliant for expanding the code... fair call by those saying we should just have Kangaroos matches down here instead, but everyone knows that Origin carries more hype, even for neutral states.
