Slater: 6- Got us plenty of yardage with his kick returns, but a few brain farts make me question whether he's really that much different from the Slater of old.
Tate: 6.5- Tried hard as usual, but probably needs to go so Folau can play on his preferred side.
Hodges: 6- Great kick chase all night, but suffered terribly from the horrible service from his 1, 6 and 7.
Inglis: 4- Gasnier made him his bitch. Got very little good ball in attack.
Folau: 5.5- Wasn't asked to do anything as for whatever reason we played almost exclusively to our right edge.
Hunt: 5.5- Surprised me with his defence, but he just doesn't have the skills of a 5/8. He'll make a helluva lock one day though.
Thurston: 5.5- Had 3 sensational kicks, the rest of his game pretty much resembled his form for the Cows at the moment. No way should he be dropped for game 2 though.
Webb: 3- Powderpuff.
Smith: 4.5- Worst game I've ever seen him play.
Civo: 7- Our 2nd best on ground.
Thaiday: 5- (Mis)Used as a battering ram all night. Didn't offer much.
Crocker: 5- Too much dropped ball.
Johnson: 5- Wasn't as busy in defence as usual before being sent to Disney land.

Marsh: 2- Didn't need to be there. Hunt/Cronk for bench utility in game two please.
Hannant: 6- Thought the big guy did well with the little game time he was given.
Myles: 8- Easily our best IMO. This guy is made for Origin.
Lillyman: 2- Who's this guy blowing?

Queensland - 3.5/10
New South Wales - 8/10

Fair. The only worry for you blokes is how you only did us by 8 points.

Am i the only one that though Mark Gasnier was the standout back tonight?

I admit i've been drinking, but with every touch of the ball he looked to find space and seriously put QLD under pressure. He and Anthony Quinn looked awesome tonight. Matt Cooper not far behind them.

the point scoring potential of the individuals in the QLD team cannot be ignored or denied. however, a win is a win.

gasnier and cooper were both fantastic tonight, gasnier especially. he taught folau a thing or 2 out wide.

Gallen was alright but he was just a part of a very good pack. He wasn't a standout among the forwards, Hoffman and Laffranchi both impressed more. And Gallen did concede a pretty dumb penalty deep in NSW territory on the Qld's sixth tackle.

Thought gasnier was outstanding tonight,best origin game i've seen him play,thurston had a complete shocker,those awarding him 6 out of 10 need to put their glasses on.
If its a replacement for lockyer that's required,thruston ain't it.I'd drop him and play cooper cronk and half back with prince at 5/8

first round of stats NRL.com 33 tackles 147 metres most tackles and second most metres (only behind gasnier). He was the standout forward by a long way.

Just means he's the new Hindmarsh, doesn't mean he was the best forward. Laffranchi made 38 tackles and created more with the ball in hand.

On the subject of Thurston when was the last time he had a good game in a big game ?
The job he does at international level is just adequeate for the players he's marshalling,the games he plays at origin level are average.

Slater = Played hard done good. Dead set he was smashed, and got up time and time again.

As for that Blues smashed them and Bedsey played outstanding. Couldn't be happier .

Slater also had some pretty good runs, love them in a Storm and Australian jersey but god Billy do you have to play so good in a QLD one I'm forced to hate the thing I normally love well except for when Melbourne plays Manly I've got mixed feelings about it then.

according to NRL.com Lockyer won't be back intime for game 2.

I doubt he'll make game 3 either but its not too late for the maroons,just need to sort out that halves problem and hope price gets back quickly
