I reckon a Saudi loss was always more likely than us requiring 100 goals
We blew it.
We should have beaten Thailand in Thailand, and we had Japan on the ropes at times last week.
Way to blow it.

Wait...maybe I have it wrong.
I thought we needed to win by as many goals as possible, as well as Saudi Arabia to beat Japan, in order to qualify.
The commentators just posted the question of Japan "can do the Roos a favour."
Where do we stand now? I'm cobfused.
In the end result wise, that and the draw here against Japan were the only. Before it started I thought we needed to win all our home games, win in Thailand, another away win and another away result. In the end we didn't even need the extra away win. Convert either of those 2 draws into a win and we're qualifiedWe blew it.

Or drawSaudis lose we go through.
If they win, we are into playoffs.
Wtf were you thinking?

Not difficult to play better than what Smith dished up. He was ok but his crosses were ordinaryVery frustrating campaign so far.
On the plus side, I thought Gehrsbach strengthened our left side.
Or draw
It's true. It's all well and good to learn teamwork and the basics and shit like that but we don't have the football culture in Australia to allow kids to learn the kind of close control the world stars all have. How many times do you reckon Messi lost the ball trying to be a fancypants growing up? Thousands and thousands I reckon. If he'd grown up in Australia he'd have been abused out of the game for being a ball hog.We try to pass into goals because we don't have the Messiesque types who can just dribble past 3 players at pace and open up the attackers. That said we're not David Caruso in that respect with other "better" countries. Cough England
The closest was Harry Kewell, who wasn't really very close at all.Well, we've never had a Ronaldo, put it that way.
