England reminded me of Storm. Niggle and f**kery in the ruck, in your face and in your heads. Good game and ability to finish was the difference. Better team won etc. Gotta be proud of their effort on the night and their achievements so far in the tournament.

One more game to go for the girls. It will be hard to lift but that bronze would be a wonderful feather in our cap.

3rd place game is a waste of time in any world cup. Nobody cares about it.
the only thing they could use it for is to play it before the final to boost the crowd. I assume the crowd will be small for the final without us in it.

You don't, is more to the point

Our men's team celebrates when we qualify for the WC and yet our Women make it to the last 4 in the world, something our men could only dream of.

An incredible achievement by the Matildas.

Yes it’s a great achievement but don’t even compare the two.

the men’s game is bigger, more competitive and tougher.

Men's football is at another level just like most males sports. But that's because men are physically faster and stronger.
Overall the skill in women's football is still very good. Some of the goals have been spectacular tbh. I've not watched a lot but have been impressed with parts I have seen.

A lot of other women's sport can be very hard to watch especially physical ones like League and boxing. I do enjoy women's tennis however.

As more money gets poured into women's games the better the quality becomes. That's just natural.

True, although I suspect the third placed game may also be an opportunity for the Coach to play a number of squad members who didn't see huge (or any) minutes, while some others rest - as a development opportunity (for the younger ones in the squad), or as a recognition (for older ones who might not be around in the squad for the next cycle)?

How is it more competitive?
They are also playing against other people of mostly the same talent level, just like the men do.

I didn't see the women's game as any less competitive as the men's.

Without knowing figures, I dare say there’s more men and more countries that have an established mens competition across the globe. Bigger talent pool making it more competitive
