10 days until Sydney FC play to try and go through from the top 16 in the Asian Champions League, into the final 8.... didn't most Wanderers fans start out as Sydney FC fans?

The Matildas have been beaten 7-0 by a Newcastle Jets under 15 boys team in a friendly in Parklea, Sydney.

Currently ranked the fifth-best women's team in the world, the Aussie girls had no answers as they were picked apart by the Hunter Valley based side.

While missing their overseas-based players such as Kyah Simon, the Matildas still fielded a strong 11 containing experienced stars including Lisa De Vanna, Caitlin Foord, Michelle Heyman, Katrina Gorry and Claire Polkinghorne.

The match was a warm-up for a two consecutive games against the New Zealand women's team in Ballarat (June 4) and Etihad Stadium (June 7).

You a former Carlingford resident?

Yep Carlingford until Yr7 (houses over back fence were in Dundas Valley. We lived down a bit from the beginning of Marshal Rd) then Nth Rocks.

I played for the Redbacks for a while and then played RU for Carlingford. Wasn't very good at either TBH.

Yep. My grandparents used to live over towards Evans Road at the back of Carlingford Bowling Club.

Most of my mates lived in either Kingsdene or Telopea. Not much in the Valley because that was a in a different catchment for schools I guess.

There was a great pizza place (or so I thought at the time) on the south side of Penno Hills Rd at Carlingford Stn. Haven't been along there for some years but i'd be surprised if it's gone.

Yeah that was Fred's Pizza - back in the 80's anyway. Used to be open late.

I actually heard on the radio the other day that NSW is bringing back 10c refund on soft drink bottles. That brought back memories cos we used to collect a heap of bottles and hit Johnny's Milkbar at Carlingford Station for a big bag of mixed lollies or maybe hot chips.
