It was the league cup final, not a particularly prestigious trophy, and they were running 7th in the league. So a better analogy would be like if we were in the final of some midweek cup while also looking like missing the NRL finals.

And coaching has f**k all impact in any given game. The benefits of coaching are in the day to day grind that creates the conditions for winning matches, not in the individual matches themselves. This is why it’s stupid to claim a win was due to good coaching or a loss was the coach’s fault. As though they were good coaches on the days their team won but suddenly shit when they lost.
