Granted I’ve only just turned on and watched the last 8-9mins but Kerr looks like that kid in junior soccer that just wants to stay in the box for the glory goals and do nothing on the other side of the ball to help the team.

if she’s not fit enough to assist in defence she shouldn’t be on the field

Well you need to watch more of the game.
She did far more than that throughout the match.
That's a poor read.

I literally prefaced my comment. I’m glad she contributed more overall and was only commenting on what I saw.

Dominating 1st half from the Matildas.
The goal right on half time helped, but I didn't think they were that sharp or dominating personally? Korea did dominate the second half though, and I was glad the Matildas scraped in with a late goal to keep the scores equal.

Next stop either China or the other Korea on Friday.

Lol Spurs

Though i think getting flogged out of the champions league will only help them stay up.

It means they can put there whole focus into survival.

They will be probably be looking for a new manager as well in the next 48hrs

Tudor wont survive this

Goalie came off after about 20 mins and was substituted; he slipped over for the first goal.

Never seen that before, we just keep on giving.

Absolute scenes up in Glasgow on the weekend after Celtic beat Rangers on penalties in the Scottish Cup. Both sets of fans on to the pitch for a bit of a scrap. Not as wild as it used to be right enough.

Chelsea had equalised 2-2 against PSG when I left the house this morning. By the time I got to work they got smashed 5-2. I'll assume that was the price of the Eels getting a win, in which case it was totally worth it.

Didnt see the Matildas v Nth Korea game

But saw a FB snippet of Kerr shoulder charging a player to the ball, the NK player fell ass over end (not a dive), and led to an Aussie goal seconds later

I understand you can jostle shoulder to shoulder, but Jesus this looked like a full on charge. May have been a trip as well ? But not sure due to seeing the one angle only..

For those of you have seen this and are more football savvy than me, whats your take on it?

I believe if neither player is in possession of the ball, it's pretty much anything goes as long as you don't kick the other player or hit them in the head. The grey area is whether one merkin was in possession or not. Obviously when dribbling, you're not always touching the ball. If you play it forward far enough it's not really a dribble any more, it's more like passing into space for yourself.

This shit video has some good examples:

The ref was keeping the whistle in her pocket for the first half. Letting the game flow. Which was good and made for a better game to watch.
Kerr's tackle was no worse than many others previously or afterwards from the North Koreans. Shoulder on shoulder. She also made clean contact on the ball.
It was fair considering how the half had been refereed up to this point. There was no trip.
It was a really good challenge. She outplayed her opponent. It's why she is considered one of the best players in the world of football.

It looked worse than it was, because the Korean player went flying - but it was legal.

As long as it's in contest for the ball, and the contact is shoulder-to-shoulder (which it was).

Smart move from Kerr to identify that she could bully her opponent that way.

I stopped watching after awhile because most of the early ones are definite fouls. If you don’t have control of the ball, you can’t just barrel through someone. They let all this shit go yet an accidental ankle tap is a penalty, possible red.
What Kerr did was put her body between the Korean and the ball, held her ground and let the Korean crash into her. There was on in video with Messi, that’s probably the most similar.
Even if the last person to touch ball only gets a microsecond to react, if the opponent just stands their ground to protect a ball, even if they haven’t touched it, then its play on or possibly foul on player crashing into her.
The rule is meant to support speed to “control” the ball, not just have merkins run through people.
