:?::?: So we told him to say the game was a setup? Sniff sniff I smell bullshit. There's no way even Ozzie would have been stupid enough to involve the club and help him salvage any form of his career more than advising him to tell the truth. At worst someone not in full disclosure of the facts may have gone a bit too far in advising him to tell the truth by "stating the game was set-up" but seems papers want to create controversy wherever they can involve Parra.

In the end, you lay down with dogs...

You end up in England, trying to salvage a career - avoiding the embarrassment of being caught in photographic evidence lying down with said dog?

It's a bit slack to blame us.

It's bloody Josh Massoud and the papers, they seem intent on publishing corruption stories about us every week. It's disheartening to be a supporter when the media seems to be completely against yours club, although thankfully most of the stories have little truth in them.
It won't shake my resolve though. I'll support this club until the end of my days!

Don't you think Murray said it?

lol, you can't blame Massoud for this one. If Murray said it in court then Josh would lose his job if he didn't print it. Blame that little prick Murray.

Translation - Parra told me the only way to save my career was to tell the truth. But since then Sammy has introduced me to his knee-capping mates and has convinced me to commit perjury.

I was referring to the staggering amount of "articles " that get published about how we are apparently a club in crisis.
As I said in the NRL forum on this, why would anyone believe this after he admits to lying, and says we pressured him to do it to "save his NRL career" even though we released him a week or so after the initial story broke? It's probably either him or Sam Ayoub attempting to implicate us and deflect the blame, if he is lying then he will get in even more trouble for it; what's laughable is that by admitting to lying in the first place he is going to have a tougher time defending himself

That's probably correct, Ayoub is scum and I am becoming vey thankful we aren't going to sign SBW.

Massoud??? He's the only one posting positive spin articles about the board because he's mates with someone up in those high circles.

he might be in court again shortly with the club suing him for defamation

I can't see why Massoud didn't just write this, instead of leading people to believe we are the centre of the scandal. The way it is written he basically said Murray has told the court, Parramatta coerced him to lie to police to convince them that Elias was involved in a betting scandal.

Joshie has cracked this wide open! It was never Ayoub and Elias. It was always us who allegedly convinced Tandy to give away the penalty. It was in an effort to destabilise the Bulldogs so they would have a terrible season, forcing them to sack Kevin Moore and chase Hasler, that would in turn lead to Manly having future disastrous seasons.

Two birds, one stone

Like it or not he was a former Parramatta player his contract was with the Eels not with Wenty. I'm sure the club would have advised him on how to handle the situation, they've have been stupid not to. But there is a difference between being coerced into lying and simply personally feeling the pressure and making that decision himself.

Don't know why people are bringing Josh Massoud into this all that's been reported both by the Telegraph and SMH are court transcripts.

Josh didn't make it up.

SMH --> Murray replied: "I was under immense pressure from my former football club [Murray has since left Parramatta] that this was the only way I could save my football career."

ABC --> Mr Murray said he had lied because he was under pressure from his club at the time, Parramatta, and worried he would ruin his career.

This question is for the legal eagles out there:

can they ask Murray to reveal who from his former club put him under pressure to lie?

I didn't say he made it up. I said the way he and Pritchard, and the thousand other journalists will probably write it up, is intentionally scandalous and potentially damaging to the club. There is providing facts and there is "providing" facts. To you, me and other fanatical NRL supporters they will read it as "Brad Murray backflips on statement to police" with probably a few laughs at our expense. The rest of the public will read "Parramatta Eels coerce player to lie to police." At the end of the day it probably doesn't matter too much, but even minimal damage is still damage that we could do without

The prosecutor could certainly ask him in cross examination, yes (in fact, if he didn't he'd be pretty useless). Then if Murray doesn't answer it's up to the magistrate.

Tough. They would have to have pretty solid evidence that someone actively convinced him to give a false statement to the cops. His word is probably not enough, particularly if they think the other person was a legal representative

All they've done so far is repeat what Murray said but in pretty much the exact same words. I can't see anything wrong with what's been written so far. How would you expect them to report it?
