So why is cricket so shit now?

How did it go from compulsory summer time viewing to a complete yawn fest?

Really?

There were more people viewing when we were the number one test team. What are we now, third?

I reckon it's the combination of poor quality opposition (only South Africa and England provide decent games in Oz)and the lack of genuine stars in the Aussie cricket team. Besides Warner and Smith who would you really give two shits about watching play?

I can't cop it. It's shit. There are no personalities, no truly world class players besides a handful of batsman and even they are not even close to facing some of the great fast bowlers of previous years.

Why would any of the current players want to show some personality? Look at the likes of Chris Gayle, Dave Warner and Michael Clarke, Gayle jokingly hits on a reporter and gets slapped with a $10,000 fine, Warner crossed no lines that his predecessors didn't cross and he gets called a boofhead and Clarke shows his personality and style snd he gets hated by the Aussie public and gets derided as having his head up his backside. On field, the encroachment of cameras and microphones means that everything they say or do gets clearly documented.
It won't be that long till every professional sportsman is as well media trained as Tim Mannah and nobody will say or do anything.

I often have these feelings that things are not as good or big or whatever anymore.

But then I end up thinking maybe its also just me. Maybe I am getting older and harder to impress.

I agree Strides. It's all about age. I also do not suffer fools and have zero tolerance for self serving morons. However the way they are going on about Gale its as if he showed his c**k to that woman.

That's a big factor strider. When you first start watching a sport as a young fella every player you see is just about the best you have seen. The older you get the more and more players you see the less likely you are to be impressed. I remember thinking Wayne Phillips was a fantastic test cricketer as a child. If he was around now he wouldn't impress me at all

I used to like Wayne Phillips too. Kim Hughes was another favourite. The Windies however were just too good. I remember seeing Viv Richards in a nightclub in the city in the late 80's and I was in awe.

Wayne Phillips (the first, the keeper, not the opener from Victoria) was great to watch, and had a superlative moustache. He scored a great century somewhere in the Carribean in the 80s.

Please.

There is plenty of space in between dickbag and borophyll.

It isn't that hard.

She wanted to see some Caribbean sausage.

I don't think she f**ken did. That's why it is a problem.

I don't understand why you would take this approach with Gayle but then have a problem with Jennings. Not only is it inconsistency bordering on schizophrenia, you are actually defending the bigger grub!
