So now we can't compete at home?
Is Gary Stead up to the job?

I can’t stand the bloke and after watching how he selected teams at provincial level I am concerned about the direction we will go moving forward

It also concerns me that this regime seem to be determined to distance themselves from McCullum style cricket as much as possible

Well we won last night with Stead not involved. Maybe thats a sign of things to come.
Still a lot wrong with team selections. Groanhomme has been clinging onto his place thru his bowling but when was the last time he did anything with the bat.
Southee uses his senior bowler status to stroke his ego and get the ball when he wants it etc. But hes more or less cannon fodder on a regular basis. I have no doubt that if Boult and Ferguson were fit and able he wouldnt even be in the squad.

Also, we need to get a proper batting coach that can help us with fast bowling. The last 2 batting coaches have not cut the mustard. How McMillan got the job I'll never know. He was a one day basher and a failure at test level.
Fulton compiled a good record against our domestic bowlers but was a spectacular failure at test level. I dont really see how they could have promoted themselves as batting coaches when they applied for the role, let alone be successful in their application. "Jobs for the boys?".
We need to spend overs on an overseas batting coach, preferably from Australia.

Clearly the best odi attack is Boult, Henry and Ferguson... to win without our three best quicks and Williamson was brilliant tbh.... special innings from Taylor and Latham

yeah imagine being Williamson and you're getting coached by Fulton or McMillan. -_- the world is twisted

To be fair Cam Smith and Billy Slater we’re happy bring coached by Bellamy... and the Roosters by Robinson ... not that I’m saying Fulton or MacMillan are great coaches, but being a great player isn’t a pre-requisite... otherwise we’d never swap Kearney for Bellamy or Robinson

What chance a repeat tomorrow?

I think the complacency by India should be well gone.

Need to do a better job of restricting them - but this is at best our B attack... With Guptill, Taylor, Latham, Neesham, and to a lesser degree Nicholls and Colin we can score big - but they will score big...

Just when memories of match-fixing were fading.
I hope they have a real close look at yesterdays game.

If you are an opener nearing your century, the last thing you want to see is Ross Taylor walking to the wicket.

2 games in a row hes been involved in suicidal run outs.

Yeah, I love him but everyone bangs on about him and Williamson running... that's just a product of them batting together so much... the reality is, I think, it's him and anyone...

The selections are poor (no Neesham in particular), and some players aren’t really good enough...

Boult Ferguson and Henry help a lot... plus T20 is a joke..
T20 is not a game that Test players, batsmen in particular, should participate.
We see far too many times when Tests are played after a T20 series, where rather than settling in at the crease, they take a slogathon attitude from the first ball.

This is why a lot of Test players get out to wild shots early on.

It's why I believe a quality player like Maxwell lost his Aussie Test position. I blame T20.
