Just three months ago, the Prime Minister promised Australia's net overseas intake would be slashed to just 250,000 in 2024-25.
This was after a record 547,300 foreigners moved to Australia in 2023, the most ever for a calendar year, as 27,000 New Zealanders relocated to Australia.
Australia's immigration intake is hardly slowing down with analysis showing every Australian was now more than $7,800 worse off each year, largely due to the housing crisis."
That's just the one broken promise of which there are significant others. Imagine being on Newstart with just this broken promise alone, almost 8k worse off a year just on this. I have noticed more tent cities and rough sleepers in towns where they weren't noticeable before. That's almost half your annual money in addition to what someone on Newstart had to pay in a private market so understandable. Really sad read.
