Sydney Water isn’t a federal agency.

They are saying the increase is largely due to the "booming population" .... pretty sure immigration is a federal concern. Planning for the population boom might have been wise.
Trying to keep the economy ticking by raising immigration might have some merits, but it also needs a plan.

Part of the reason for the water price increase is "The booming population " Immigration is a federal concern. Allowing such a population spike without any planning is atleast partially ALBOs mods fault.

Prices would have gone up anyway given the need to replace a lot of aging infrastructure that is all reaching end of life at the same time. Sydney Water will have to recover costs from tradies that charge like irresponsible merkins and therefore pass it on to the consumer.

So in short, tradies are to blame for this and all of them should be shot out of a cannon into a pile of shit.

Labour cost hasn't really changed its the cost of materials through the roof
