Iran attacked the US embassy.
Trump started the dick measuring contest after saying that the Iran deal was a *very bad deal*. He claimed that the USA should have kept Iran’s frozen cash reserves. Shortly after his election, Trump stated that he would not recognise the Iran nuclear deal and ramped up sanctions, crippling their economy.

Not saying that Iran has clean hands, but it is mischievous of you to post the above.

The odd thing is that Trump has been simultaneously poking the bear with Iran, and scaling down the US presence in the middle east (in particular Iraq and Syria). We all know that he said ....”We’re getting out. Let someone else fight over this long blood-stained sand. The job of our military is not to police the world,”...

Gronk prefers to leave important facts out if they aren't helping his argument. Have you not noticed?

In this case it's relevant, given the stuff The Donald has been saying.

He's a hypocrite. More than most politicians.

Words aren't violence Gronk. Words are how entities communicate leverage. Iran kicked off the need to demonstrate leverage through violence.

FMD it’s like a bully using flagrant provocation, then claiming self defence when the other guy hits first.

Iran cuts a deal with the former US president and nek minute the new guy who has been systematically rolling back anything Obama did (domestically and internationally like Paris) moves the goalposts. He did this without consultation of their allies....

The U.S. withdrawal from the deal could stress already strained diplomatic relations with a number of key allies, including European Union leaders in Germany, France and the United Kingdom, all original parties in the 2015 accord.

President Emmanuel Macron of France and British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson have both implored Trump in recent days to stay in the landmark deal brokered under President Barack Obama. Macron later tweeted Tuesday his disappointment with Trump’s decision to exit the deal, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.

“France, Germany, and the UK regret the U.S. decision to leave the JCPOA,” Macron said in a tweet. “The nuclear non-proliferation regime is at stake.”

As part of the original deal, a host of countries, including Russia and China, agreed to periodically suspend sanctions on Iran so long as the Iranians complied with the terms of the deal, including regular international inspections.

Iran is a bad global citizen. They don't feel compelled to comply with their side of any deal. Trump got the facts after becoming president and decided the charade was worthless.

Obviously the career politicians running other countries see great value in meaningless agreements. That's what politics is all about.

Nor does Trump feel compelled to comply with his side of any deal. Paris Agreement, North American Free Trade Agreement, ^^^ Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action with Iran, Trans-Pacific Partnership, withdrew from UNESCO, United Nations Human Rights Council, United Nations Relief and Works Agency (aid program for Palestinian refugees). Really, the USA are no longer the same global citizen as this new POTUS priorities lie with Nationalism and openly rejects Globalism. In short, the USA give no f**ks either.

One might also suggest that the US is a bad global citizen
The US has spent a lot of money and lives allowing the rest of us to get rich. They don't have the luxury of being any sort of global citizen, they are burdened with being the global police force. They're too big to fill any other role.

Indeed how are we going as a global citizen? We don't have an energy policy, have a claytons attitude towards climate change, our indigenous folk have a 3rd world mortality rate and we lock up refugees on Devils Island*.

* Papillon movie - staring Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman.

If another country attacked and killed a country's leader like the Donald did, they would be accused of terrorism

That’s the thing with “war crimes”. It’s the goodies who run around charging the baddies with crimes of war. Anything that the good guys do is for some reason acceptable. Then when whistle blowers expose the war crimes, they are treasonous. Chelsea Manning a case in point.

I dont think what Trump did was acceptable, call it a war crime or terrorism but he is in the wrong imo, probabaly more to do with his trying to win votes rather than diplomacy
