Like say how the school halls ( building education plan ) was a mismanaged waste of tax payer money, but corporates like Harvey Norman's receiving hundreds of millions of tax payer dollars despite record sales isn't?

The halls were actually quite clever. Corporate welfare like Hardly Normal has not much to do with sales and profit and would happen regardless.

Harvey was welfared to the hilt with jobkeeper and likely other programs, and literally booked it all as profit, because of higher sales.

So problem isn't that he made a profit, it's that he made a good profit, and then copped all the handouts on top of that ( of course he was hardly on his own ) , to which the governments response was, oh well.

Now if he played by the rules, that is what it is as far as he's concerned, but as far as the scheme is concerned, it highlights a pretty major failing in it's design and or implementation yeah?

Perhaps in that specific instance it could be deemed a design flaw. In general, corporate welfare, although not immediately intuitive has it's usefulness.

News drives the narrative and the ensuing advertising revenue. It's all about selling papers. Metaphorically anyway. Then exploitation of the embedded narrative for point scoring from your opponent. The old saying "Never let the truth get in the way".

You mean this News.......

.........seems a slightly different approach yeah?

Well, that'd depend on the purpose and whether it achieved that purpose wouldn't it.

I wouldn't be in a rush to put increasing shareholder dividends in that category though, but hey, whatever floats your boat.

You are scared to use a question mark now, aren't you.

Corporate welfare is certainly not designed to increase shareholder value. It may be a by-product sometimes but not the primary function. I don't own a boat.
