I don’t get the Libs here.
The lefties ScoMo has pissed off aren’t going to vote Liberal anyway.
The righties ScoMo has pissed off are just going to vote further right, so either preferentials back to Coalition or worse case scenario they’ve got to work with some gun nut member to pass bills.
But the more lefty-righties that Potater Dutton has pissed off, could swing Labor

Yeah, there's no race for the centre with Dutton, he loses support everywhere except the right to hard right, but..........

There's deckchairs to be saved and from what's being said by the government they want to fight the election on national security, China and the relative strength of the economy. Dutton fills those roles, and on the economy can preach "traditional" liberal values like fixing the debt and getting spending under control, and those that still are invested in that kind of rhetoric will buy into it.

I don't think they'll pull the trigger, but if they do it's as close to a concession as you're likely gonna get, and it will be about individual members seeking to save their seat, not about getting the government re-elected.

What is the situation with ex-PM perks? Do you get em if you are only PM for 2 months?

As I understand it they're up to the government of the day to support, so you wouldn't want to be starting something that's gonna bite into your own grift should the time ever come.

The pension ( super ) thing though might have qualification limits, I don't know TBH, But if simply being PM for a coupla months had you sorted for the PM's pension for the rest of your life, that'd be a pretty neat score.

I do recall something about Abbott ( I think ) being a few days short of qualifying for something or another.

Speaking as an average macadamia nut it's quite obvious that politics on the state, federal and world stage have been in serious trouble, in recent times especially. Scomo's decline started with a trip to Hawaii followed by covid. Each OZ state's pollies are too busy running their own campaigns to worry about the average cashew... covid has highlighted this quite considerably. While this has always been the case, it's been exposed to all Premier's are complete whack jobs, so there's a consistent theme amongst them.
I'm a swinging voter of sorts, but I don't see any politician from any/either party who will make a change for the greater good of Australia and it's citizens. We've become a rabble, just like the rest of the world. At this stage for me, it won't matter a flying fart who gets in, and that's a real shame. Bunch of peanuts.

It can't be Dutton. Surely they aren't that stupid.
Desperate to try anything to stop a landslide? They've belatedly realised with an unsuccessful "let it rip" they'll lose seats across NSW, Vic and WA... maybe Dutton at least gives them some hope of not bleeding seats in Qld?

They almost voted Dutton in when they knifed Turnbull - so he had almost enough support then, and Scomo has pretty much delivered a turd of a performance on most fronts since...

^^^^ context here is that the religious right of the LNP were promised some protections following the SSM thing.

Phillip Ruddock was commissioned to undertake The Report of the Religious Freedom Review (released in December 2018). It “found” Australian law should better protect and promote "freedom" of religion, which was obviously no surprise.

A LNP minister was just on the ABC supporting the draft legislation because it “moves the dial” and when questioned that this bill fails to protect transgender kids, her response was that she does not want to talk about that because it might cause distress to that community.

These protections are of the same ilk as the campaign to repeal S18c of the Racial Discrimination Act some years ago.

The premise to me is the same; what do you want to say or do that you feel that you cannot say or do now ? Instead of lurking behind lawyer talkin guy mumbo jumbo, just tell people your real intentions.

Labor are 1.35
I think we learnt from the last election that a "14% dunno yet" vote can change the result and many of those merkins decide on the day, in the line.

Agreed that on a two party preferred basis, labor would win the election if it was held today, but again, don't read too much into that.

I'm doing a job out your way tomorrow. Don't want to do it cause I feel it will be something I can't fix and just waste my day.
