Maybe because the people directly involved are young and don't have much awareness of those players from the early years.

I find it weird 3 guys from a super dark period made it. Even Rat I get but wouldn't have done first. He was a huge reason I became a Sharks fan but just 123 games... Covell had 131 for example. Rat is such a heart break for me so perhaps I am not objective. Probably the same feeling when Holmes walks on in in 10 years time.

Fifita, Graham and Lewis should have been the first in if we are looking at "modern" players. If you ask anyone who was the best prop for the last 30 years at the Sharks not one person would say Stevo over Fifita. I am guessing they are holding the 2016 guys back for next year and the 10 years.

I feel very much the same about the Rat. He probably could have stayed with us and become a Sharks immortal, instead he left the sport and came back and played with someone else.

I like the idea of going back in time first and celebrating those players who are long retired. It would be more special for them I think and it's nice for fans to give some thought to players they hadn't thought about in a while.

They have clearly set a standard for the HoF, to recognise great players who achieved some big accolades with our club. I see flaws with the induction of M Rogers, Stevens and Kimmorley, but there's no denying they did great things in their careers. So that's the standard set.

Clearly the Immortals concept has been set aside as the tier to recognise genuine greatness, and naturally I would expect the only new inductee to reach that milestone will be Gal. In time, I expect Wade and Fifita would reach that level too, but I guess the club is working to a timeline and don't want to shoot their whole load everywhere too quickly.
