So a narcissistic apology which insists on forgiveness is only seen that way by the left ? You’re probably right, cos my suspicion has always been that conservatives were born without the empathy compassion and respect gene.

‘Empathy’, ‘Compassion’ and ‘Respect’ are too often claimed and then weaponised against others that have a different viewpoint.

How can people be so lacking in self-awareness and not see how obvious it is to others that those actions are the very opposite of those three words.

I have made my case. Change my mind. Show me instances of how our AU conservative government acts with compassion, empathy and respect. I am not owning and weaponizing these emotions. Through my lens I see little to make me think otherwise. As I said, change my mind.

My view is that it was a get-off-my-back-can-we-move-on-now apology and I stand by that. Context : the stolen generations. A group of people who have endured untold phycological trauma, institutional sexual abuse and deaths. Imagine if the same "isn't it time that you forgive me" message was directed at holocaust survivors (don't @ me I am not comparing atrocities).

If I was to be critical of the statement though, I would say that it could have focused more on how its a joint effort to move beyond sorry to meaningful, reciprocated action. Could have made the same point without being such an obvious trigger for the left.

The funny thing is most people who are left or right live exactly the same. Point the blame on everyone else, call for equality then go on and live in their own little bubbles.
