Funnily enough, in the Liberal Party you can have a view that differs from the party position, unlike definitely Labor and I'm pretty sure the Greens. The Teals just follow the money.

There's plenty of dissenting views within the Labor party, the difference is that in the parliamentary wing regardless of your views you toe the line on party position. That's what you sign up for.
The Libs are the same except they limit it to cabinet ( or shadow cabinet as it might be ). Funnily enough, the names you mention ( moderates ) are all no longer part of the parliamentary wing, they're all gone, and the moderates themselves hold little to no sway in the party. For the moment at least the broad church is dead.
Sure, a moderate can still dissent, but how's that working out for their careers at the federal level?
On the flip side Labor have national conference, which at least positions are debated and adopted, or rejected as it might be. Whereas where is policy decided with the Libs, the party room, by factional leaders.
