But they have a totally different system. As far as I understand it, when you buy a house in China the government still owns the land.

Foreigners can buy a house in China if they've lived their for a year... but if the land isn't yours then what's the (long term) point? That's why Chinese investors must love western systems like ours where your cash buys land ownership (and potential land value increase) as well.

I think it is niave as f**k to think Albo n co rode in on their unicorns and convinced China to release her. I imagine they asked. But i reckon it was moreso China believed they had made their point (stupid as it was) and were gonna let her out of detention anyway and it happened ... there is still another one in detention isnt there? The diplomacy isnt working on that one? Maybe different situation. Maybe china is still making their point with that one?

I dont think australia has much sway with the big nations. And i think we are resigned to kissing arse to try and get somewhere with em. Of course ScoMo was kissing USA arse. What you have done here is written a puff piece which supports your bias. I'm a balanced person and the answer is both, but my view is more right than yours. All good, I'm used to that pattern.

Here are some real world facts for you.

China buys high quality stuff from us and they get it at really good price based on the AUD. So to minimise that fact is disingenuous.



There is a trend and expectation that trade between China and US will continue to wane. We are not manufacturers, but we can pick up the slack in agriculture and raw materials. You might think we have no clout, but I think you're naive to think that trade bewteen AU and China is not a very important two way street.
