I've done that and put forward a suggested good reason why, and you have kyboshed it because you'll lose a public holiday. FMD.
I suggested an alternative where you won't lose it, and all you've offered is another 350 days of possible alternatives. Lol.

Ok, instead of being so vague, try and come up with a solution.
It is attitudes like this that shit me and why Australia Day is so divisive.

Given the history of what happened to the native people of this land no matter what date you pick you will find some horrific and quite traumatising event has happened in history. That's why I reckon we should actually get rid of "the date" and have it on the last Friday in February. Guaranteed long weekend every year, end of summer, just before the major sporting codes of the country go into their seasons

I don't have the requisite cultural identity, knowledge or investment (to be frank) to come up with a suggestion. As I intimated earlier, there would be dozens of dates across the calendar that those who do, could point to and come up with a perfectly reasonable and justified reason why it works.

I just threw up an alternative, which you immediately shot in the foot for a reason I thought was a bit weird and selfish and not particularly accepting of the whole discussion.
Get back to me when you come back with an alternative, once you've had time to honestly think of one that might possibly work.

Yeah, that avoids the whole shitfight , first Monday or last Friday of whenever.

Also has the selling point of always being a long weekend, rather then on a f**king Tuesday or Wednesday.

In all honesty, I think that most Aussies are mainly centrist. It's just that media organisations, forums and the like purposely leave the gate open for ratings and views. Let's do a number on OZ Day. Let's have a go at ANZAC Day. Kings Birthday, why not? Easter and Christmas....open slather. This is part of the reason why merkins begin to steer left or right. Just my opinion.
