The lady tied up in a romance scam in Japan has been jailed overnight. The court said that she should have seen the red flags.

^^^^ IIRC there was a merkin a few years ago from Sydney and was scammed out of $400,000. Later he was contacted by the “Nigerian Police” and told that they had recovered his money and apologised for the inconvenience. He did have to travel to somewhere (Manila ?) to pick up his cheque. Long story short, there was no cheque but when he got back to Sydney he was arrested for drug importation. He got off, but spent 18 months in remand before he got there. Nightmare.
