^^^^ IIRC there was a merkin a few years ago from Sydney and was scammed out of $400,000. Later he was contacted by the “Nigerian Police” and told that they had recovered his money and apologised for the inconvenience. He did have to travel to somewhere (Manila ?) to pick up his cheque. Long story short, there was no cheque but when he got back to Sydney he was arrested for drug importation. He got off, but spent 18 months in remand before he got there. Nightmare.

Not a problem for me. I haven't used cash for close to 15 years, apart from overseas travel. I get the concerns about personal security, but at this point I feel like we are already being observed and the horse has bolted.
How do you hide unnecessary purchases from your missus?

Hardly anyone uses cash plus
Based on?

Sure use of cash has lessened over time, but plenty still do use it.

Whats everyone thoughts on the Commbank slugging customers $3 for a cash withdrawal at a bank branch.

It's shit, f**k their eyes. Full disclosure it doesn't affect me one bit, but still, f**k their eyes.

Its another sign that were moving that little closer to a cashless society..

Not quite done with yet.

I feel like we are already being observed and the horse has bolted.

We are, but whilst cash exists you still have the option of keeping some shit to yourself.

I think that as we become further entrenched with big data and the ability the personalise it, how you spend your money is going to affect you in a myriad of ways, many of them potentially not to your benefit.

I should correct myself there because as a retailer, making it more difficult to trade in cash pushes more people onto electronic transactions, these incur a fee, which is paid by the merchant.

It's basically a turnover tax levied by the card providers and the banks, and it stopped getting cheaper a whiles back, and is now slowly increasing
