Interesting as he’s not too quick to correct, he usually prefers matters to stew.

The plight of the Gaza folk has garnered a lot of sympathy from people all around the world as much as the hamas attack I’d say.

So having modified his position later, he’s opened the door that he might do it again on another issue.

He’s not locking himself in to anything.

But I think he realised the statement was unrealistic and very unhelpful.

I thought Israel cashed in a lot of world sympathy when they levelled Gaza.

And I suspect the more ferocious of their critics start attacking innocent Jewish folk in Sydney, which is despicable and deplorable.

If you want to know if a Trump brain fart will actually happen on not it is fairly simple.
Put it on a scale of 1 to 10 where 1 is easy and 10 is difficult (i.e. you actually have to do something)

Anything below 3 actually happens e.g. signing an executive order
Anything that takes negotiation, planning and co-operation doesn't happen e.g. building a border wall

Statements like this, I think they tend to needlessly upset people ( ie he didn’t have to make any remark).

One of the points made about trump before he made the comment is that he will find it increasingly difficult to hold his broad coalition together as his real policies emerge.

The only way to ascertain why Trump tempered his comment is to ask him and expect him to be truthful in response.

I made my comment based on what I heard listening to one of the US news broadcasts ( I can't remember if it was NBC or CBS). They quoted a Republican Senator as saying the plan was poorly thought out. I don't think it's a stretch to equate poorly thought out with moronic.

My impression was that you attributed his change in policy to being pressured by GOP colleagues but there is no real evidence of this.

His change of heart may have come from anywhere as far as we can tell.

And you forgot to mention some of them some of them agreed with him lol.
