enough mate, its getting tiresome having to browse all this schoolyard stuff

I know the Bunnies forum is a ghost town but you could always try 4 Corners if you want to specifically discuss politics.

The Bunnies forum is most assuredly not a ghost town. I have no great desire to discuss politics (especially US politics). I was here to get stuff to discuss with my Eels supporting best friend and I stumbled into the Politics thread and saw the rampant stupidity going on and couldn't help myself. I won't stir the hornets nest anymore but I also won't sit back if the usual suspects want to resume hostilities.

Or you could just ignore them.

About the aluminium tariff scuffle, I’ve heard different things about it. Albo is trying to make it sound good, but he may be too optimistic. Dutto is with him for a change.

Im not sure we can win it now, because if we are far away and need US planes, I figure we are still going to need them despite a trade war.

But the other thing I was thinking was that if it becomes too expensive to import stuff from Merica for a lot of countries, we might see traditional industries (where the us has a comparative advantage) pop up in other countries.

The car industry, people laughed at the early Japanese cars, now they make the best cars on earth.

Im pretty sure the Japanese could build the best aircraft on earth too if they wanted to.

And China is going gangbusters with tech and their deep sleep AI or whatever it is.

As America withdraws, we will have to look for friends elsewhere.

other silver lining is that it may force Australian industries to look for other markets (like when China put tariffs a few years ago) - though not sure how many industries are heavily tied to US exports
