So Joe Rogan announces he's never going to Canada again, something Trump something and it makes news...

Having never listened to the guy, is he just some high-rating radio/podcaster dude behind a microphone - like a USA version of say Kyle Sandilands?
Probably easiest to listen to him and form your own opinion.

My view - he's a bit of dick, but a long way removed from what Sandilands does. Howard Stern is a better comparison.

I'm happy to say I would'nt waste a minute of my time listening to any of them. That does'nt mean to say they are'nt worth listening to for a counter view if that appeals to you.

Canadians everywhere are celebrating knowing thats one less mouth breathing douchebag who'll be crossing the border.
Libs have had a sugar hit with Mark Carney replacing Trudeau but I think Poilievre has enduring support.

Even with the sugar hit the Libs are still only polling at 39.6%. They might still win the election, but any talk of 'Canadians everywhere' is a pretty lazy, sloppy analysis of the facts.

That's a perfectly reasonable position to take, but it excludes anyone who has that position of making any informed assessments. So therefore, I take that biased opinion with a grain of salt.

If you break a contract, it does'nt matter if you are the supplier or the receiver. It's the same thing.
Breach of contract is the same thing, but the loss suffered because of that breach cannot be the same.

The french sub deal had not started much beyond planning, hence they negotiated a settlement of $835m.

These gas contracts are for 25 years with capped prices to multiple countries.

Firstly, a court could order specific performance of the contract. Meaning than the court won’t allow Aus to walk away because they simply changed their mind.

Secondly, if damages were to be sought, they would need to compensate the buyers of the LPG at the projected spot rates for the remainder of the contacts.

Thirdly, the reputational damage would be unquantifiable as you would lose buyers like Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan and that alone could be 10 fold any benefit you might gain from exiting these dumb contract.

The simple solution is to legislate that gas suppliers have to guarantee that domestic requirements are met first. I understand there are moves to bring that in from both sides of politics. Failing that, bring in more LNG plants to serve the domestic market. I'll leave it to you guys to work out the maths but governments can wield a big stick or two to convince suppliers it would be in their interests to comply.
Start running the country in our best interests not that of multinationals and foreign interests. We give far too much away.

Sorry mate but I don't rate any of them as being capable of making me more informed on any matter under the sun. I get my information from multiple varied sources and am quite capable of making an informed decision without having to listen to every self appointed influencer pushing their particular agendas. You can listen to every man and his dog before deciding on an issue but next minute another opinion surfaces. Trust your own instincts.

It is a simple solution because it’s what WA has been doing for yonks. That aside, you still have to honor existing contract.
