OT: Daniel Anderson

On the way home I was listening to Talkin Sport and heard Daniel Anderson being interviewed. He mostly spoke about the upcoming expats game with the English which he is coaching, later he was asked by Brett Papworth if he would like to coach in the NRL again?

Anderson replied, "Never say never but I am a realist and that window of opportunity has probably closed." I felt so sad when I heard this. When he arrived in 2009 I was so excited for the club and him. His resume was outstanding.I remember him saying that he is a Parramatta man and covets the position. So much for loyalty and passion, 3P basically destroyed his career.

The irony is that Kearney may have a similar fate.

Wouldn't clubs be chasing him if was any good and he was still interested in taking up a position?

It's also about timing. All clubs had basically committed when we sacked him. He has no plans to go back to the UK because his desire is for his daughters to be educated in Australia.

He also had IMHO a pot shot at Kearney, he spoke about the pressure of coaching and said you can develop as many players as you want but in the end it's all about winning games. He also tipped us to continue struggling in 2012 and not play finals football.

I don't reckon he wants to coach. I reckon he got heaps of cash out of us with his payout and now he's just living large, writing articles and counting his money.

He said that he is enjoying commentating with the ABC but like I said previously he thinks the window has closed. Such a shame.

Anderson's biggest problem was when continually asked about the teams form in 2009 and how it all came about was to reply that he didn't know. It is a shame but he is as much to blame for his current job as what 3P were.....

You can't hang your hat on that Colonel. Of course he contributed to the run in 2009. He picked the team, he motivated the players, he provided the game plans.

Brian Smith said the exact same thing about 2001, but whatever........

The 2009 R26 to Semis Week 1 turnaround against the Bennett-coached Dragons was a particularly astute coaching achievement. Hard to deny that one, or to say it was all down to the players/Hayne.

Sometimes we can put too much emphasis on what are only ever glib statements to fob off the media. It didn't bother me in the slightest that he told the media he didn't know what made things click in the second half of 2009.

It seems that way doesn't it? It also seems to me that if you have friends in the right places, you get looked after.

I am unashamedly a big fan of Daniel Anderson's coaching ability. His [overall] record speaks for itself. I hope to see him coaching in the NRL again some day.

it didn't bother me at all that he said he had no clue either .... I have always believed alot of sport is luck and good fortune ... you can do alot to put yourself in the right position to take advantage of good luck, but often its still just luck
