OT- Flanno returning

The first one was definitely overblown...copped the flack for an inept organisation, and was already being asked to do way more than he should have as a coach. The second ban was fair, he had to have known they'd find out eventually but by skirting the ban he helped assemble a premiership winning squad. Deserves the suspension, won a comp, should be happy enough with that. Still got a coaching role last year so it was hardly a tough run imo..

It's the fact that he seems willing to disrupt our year by throwing his hat in the press ("declined to comment" my nards, that article was essentially written by his manager) is bullshit and he needs to f**k off and wait, keep his nose out and cop the consequences for his actions.
He's still paying now for the dank thing. An 11 week period 10 years ago. The punishment had such a long tail because he annoyed toddles by slagging him off in emails.

The punishment to not have any contact to even set up a team from when he returned from sanction....sure it was a punishment and he should have respected it....but it was ridiculous. But flange is a bit of a c#$t and because he is, he assembled a premiership winning team.

I'm certain we would still not have a premiership if it wasn't for flange. I don't know if he could do it again....but it's f**king hard to win one and I reckon it'd be more likely under flange than just about anyone else (other than a very top tier coach like Bellamy).

We need to employ the blokes that give us the best chance for winning a comp. If the board think that is flange, then they should go for it...assuming of course they are be comfortable flange won’t go rogue and they have systems and oversight in place to minimise the chance.

Sponsors love winners more than anything else.

Being the nice guy club got us no where. Look at how sneaky and dirty Melbourne, Brisbane, Roosters and Manly are. That's why they have so much success. Having a hard nose, dodgy prick like Flanno brought us up the required level.

Bring the merkin back.

Trials you are mixing up being being ruthless and smart with doing things that are completely illegal or just downright dumb.

He might be able to coach but he is huge risk and one that the club shouldn’t take for granted that he won’t go rogue. He can’t help himself.

Honest question to those backing SF... do you think the club would survive 1 more scandal the level of his last 2?

We are lucky we didn’t have the comp taken off us. How many of you would welcome him back then?

I will be very disappointed if he returns.
Rugby league is built on scandal.

But to answer your question, we struggle to survive a systemic drug scandal...any club would nowadays. We do survive a weird Toddles style email punishment though

If Morris doesn’t fix up our defence, and we go in a different direction for a coach, I think we’d be stupid if we didn’t go for Flanno - who’s better on the market? People say Fitzgibbon or Ciraldo, but they’re both unproved - just because the media claim they’re the next big thing, doesn’t mean they are, just means they’ve got friends in the media pushing their case. How can anyone know how much input either have at their respective clubs? I’d rather sit it out with Morris than go for either of those.
As for Flanno and his indiscretions, I genuinely believe all NRL coaches do exactly the same things, their clubs are just better run in terms of hiding it - though most have been pinged at some point for salary cap stuff.
If Morris doesn’t last, absolutely bring back Flanno. My only actual concern is that I don’t want the good work Morris has done of bringing through the youth to be undone, Flanno wasn’t as liberal with bringing in the kids.

Need to have money for that. We don’t. Hence the need for people in the club that get sponsors

He did what he had to do to win in 2016 ,and as chimp and others point out probably did no worse naughty things than other coaches at other clubs . Not so sure what was happening after ,and if he handled that so well.

I think the biggest redlight for Flanno is the HUGE TARGET he now has on his back for enemies of the sharks and his own personal enemies to take leisurely pot shots at . Crawley Writing positive articles to bring him back ? A stains fan? Greenburg supporting his bid for early return ? Maybe Im paranoid but sounds pretty sus to me. Also strongly subscribe to the support for Morris who has done well with what he's been saddled with. Did anyone seriously think he (or anyone else )could take that post GF side with the personel losses ,the salary cap and Flanno dramas and straight off win the Grand final ? For Mine he is on Track for 2022. Absolutely need to see improvement in defence and either some stepping up in key positions , or some astute buying when salary cap and contract finalisations allows . All signs atm suggest he is addressing those things.

We nearly folded a thousand times before Flanno f**ked up and we will always be there abouts because we are a small market team in a crowded market.

Same goes for large scale sponsers. We are small time, theres pretty much no coach or player we could bring in that would equate to large scale sponsership.

I like Jmoz and i think he should be given a fair crack but Flanno done a couple of things that no one else could.

Get topline players and f**king win. Thats all i give a f**k about.

The Underdog, Winning against the odds , in a Nationally televised sport, cant be bad for sponsorship. Still have to keep out of the scandals but.

Anyone here remember the days when we'd critique flannoball?
Gallen's famous 4th tackle hitups.
Chad being Chad but with less responsibilities.
Non-attacking but defensively sturdy centres.
Goddamn I miss Maloney.

My dislike for Flanno has mellowed over the last year and I hope he has learnt from all of this drama. He is a great coach despite some off-field crap.
I just don't believe bringing him back after all the suffering the club went through is a good idea.
The club has moved on in my opinion, we've got a lot of new/slightly new players and can make a most of a new era far from what has happened.

I think a lot people are blinded by the 2016 comp win and I completely understand it.

We finally won it.
