I think he got a bit cocky with his signings, now he'd won a comp he could get the best out of any recruit and could do no wrong. He had this desire/need to replace a marquee with another marquee
Lose Maloney get Moylan
Lose Bird get Dugan
Lose Holmes get Johnson
I like Dugan but only 1 of those 3 has really worked out imo - Johnson.
I don't think we should be assuming if Flanno comes back we're a top 4 team again. The games changed alot and sure he's probably a good recruiter but there's no secret Gal had alot to do with that.. just ask him haha. Seems like we're using the influence of Gal, Wade and Lewis to recruit now. Now we have McInnes and with the pack we're forming hopefully recruiting won't be too difficult.
Plus Mooney
You can look at those 3 example
Moylan has been injured last 2 seasons but the year under Flanno he played ok
Maloney did little at Panthers as well.
Dugan has been better the Bird he has been on the field.
SJ has been better then Holmes who couldn't get into Jets team for a year and struggled at Cowboys.
Flanno had got us to winning a comp, we lost half our spine straight afterwards so we had to remain competitive, we had never one a comp, nor had Flanno other teams is cowboys and rabbits fell quicker after winning, he was trying to ensure we could win another.
Roosters keep relaxing players with superstars so Flanno working on same principle
What he did show is that he could find players who when came to club fitted brilliant is Prior.
I think Flanno got best out of Feki/ Leutele I doubt any other coach could have had them play better.
Of course Flanno has issues but he is a winner, not a coach who one elsewhere and we shipped in we have tried and failed there.
