Learned Friends,

I purchased a Fender Squier Jaguar on the weekend, I am just starting my guitar playing again, electric for the first time - keen on playing Beach Boys, America, Eagles - 60's and 70's.

I think I have buyer regret, I had planned on buying a Fender Squier Classic Vibe 50's Stratocaster HT, but changed my mind at the last minute

Should I take the Jaguar back and go with the 50's Stratocaster?

Any thoughts and guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks

What makes you ask?
Why aren’t you happy with it?

At the end of the day, it’s the guitar which feels more right for you.
Either of those will get the sounds you’re looking for, so whichever you’re happiest with.

Thanks Mate!

The edging on the neck is quite sharp and I’m not so keen on the warble handle - apologies for my incorrect use of terminology.

I was hoping the learned cohort would endorse my decision for reasons far above my level of expertise.

What DJ said.
You really have to go with what you feel. Definitely both of those guitars can produce those sounds you want.

I got a Fender Squire Starcaster a couple of years ago. Love it. I had it worked on a bit to get some of those little things like you have ironed out, but it was by a mate of mine who is a bit of a genius in that stuff amd he charged me bugger all. Other techs could cost a bit. Ring around, talk to someone that works on guitars, tell them what you need done and see the cost factor.
