I used to get pre sales for the Stadium shows. Seen just about all of them. Even scored tickets for The Beatles. Hey, Quigs. You've taken me back nearly 50 years, to the arguments I used to have with a mate who looked like the coyote outta the Road Runner cartoons re Beatles v Stones. Ahhh! Reminiscing!!!
Saw Jimmy Carruthers, Ralph Dupas, Emile Griffiths, Sid Prior, Wally Taylor, etc. back then too. You name it. And, of course, Killer Kowalski, Mario Milano, Skull Murphy, Bulldog Brower, Brute Bernard, Killer Karl Kox, Spiros Arion.

And remember Col Joye at the Cecil Ballroom. And the day Caringbah or Endeavour High opened and they had a big rock concert with lots of big local names. Ahhh! You've taken me back, Quigs.

Pop, you've got a few years on me. My main venue of choice - well where the concerts were was the Hordon Pavillion.

Even the Wrasslin' had moved from the tin shed to there by then.

When you were hanging out at the Cecil I was more than likely stuck under a Norfolk Pine outside with my dear mum. Getting bribed by my dad with Red drinks and Smiths Crisps.

I used to get piano lessons of a dude called Brian Gur who was one of col Joyes Joy Boys.

that band name probably wouldn't whip up female hysteria these days.

anyway .......I recorded this stones doco and will have a look soon.
I read Keefs book and this period sounded like a good time.

Always loved sweet virginia....always gets a run from me after a few beers and the guitars come out.

you'll love it carch. excellent film and photo's from the time plus plenty of audio quotes as well.
what i liked was they played a fair chunk of the songs from he album(and outakes) instead of the usual 10 seconds.

yes - sweet virginia is the best pissed song there is.

Geez Popper and Quigs, all your music and wrestling talk is making me feel like I was born 10 years too late. I'll just add one standout Hordern Pavilion show from 1974, a so-called Billy Thorpe farewell concert, with Billy & the Aztecs, The La De Das, Band of Light and the Stevie Wright Band, all for $1.75. Almost as good value as sitting in the scaffold stand at Endeavour Field in the early 70s for 10 cents,

Crashed and burned on that one.................turned out to be Billy Thorpe's girlfriend. She walked out with him and then it was later confirmed in his book. Just goes to show............I have a good eye for talent. Now about Todd Carney..........................................................................................
