Lomax- possibly Leilula and who knows what other talented young players are to be released and just whom do they intend to replace them with ?

I can only go by past experience with our recruitment and suggest that shall be over the hill journeymen .

Gawd what a sorry , sorry bunch of knuckleheads we have running thr Big (?) Red V .
Somehow, the "Mighty Saints" have become "The extinguished Dragons" - we have been welded together with Illawarra and seem to have inherited their expectations as well.
If we make the 8 it's champagne all 'round even if we never look like winning a premiership.
The Board is a bunch of rusted on know alls who have systematically destroyed our club over time.
We have a new CEO who is an embarrassment and makes Doust look like Bill Gates.
In a very short time he has managed to drag St.George down just by renewing McGregor when he did.
He compounds that by continuing to search for ways to justify and rationalize that error.
The new owners have done nothing for the club since they took over and seem to have crabs in their pockets which raises the question "Why are they even involved?"
McGregor's disastrous tenure is a result of nepotism first and foremost.
The culprits are the Board members that continue to foster this dead end philosophy.

BJ is better than Doust. He is still cleaning up his mess. McGregor was a board decisions and BJ the face....what else could he say
He would want to make changes and bet his hands are tied so no wonder their a rumours around he wont survive. He probably has had enough of the board factions and individual agendas for not the betterment of the club.

Yes what position you can play in Juniors does not translate to NRL. I know all the paper talk but he knows he will be best suited as a centre at the top grade and is willing to play there, especially when he has finished developing and gets rid of the injury prone tag

It's not paper talk it's a direct quote. Lomax has said he prefers fullback and as you said McGregor has said that Lomax has told him he prefers fullback.

We know that most people consider Lomax as a centre, he will probably end up there but that's a different discussion.

It sounds like you have inside knowledge of the situation but I can only go by what he has said publicly.
The support he provided McGregor at the time of renewal was unconditional but totally nauseating to most fans that were hoping for an end to McGregor's tenure..
He personally backed him 100%, insisted that McGregor had managed the JDB crisis masterfully and further stated that McGregor was the glue that held the club together in this time of crisis.
He also stated clearly that McGregor would get a free ride in 2019 regardless of results but he would not have ever imagined that straight after these announcements McGregor would perpetrate the worst capitulation in the history of the club.
Anyone can make a mistake but please don't talk about Board factions and BJ.
BJ knew in advance what a cesspool it was and he was still hand picked by the Board and took over as CEO without hesitation.
So Johnston is either incompetent, stupid or a hypocrite.
Which is it?

The Wests Tigers have released centre Esan Marsters from the final year of his contract, effectively immediately, with the Kiwi international set to join the North Queensland Cowboys.

NRL.com understands Marsters’s manager approached the Wests Tigers a couple of months ago about the potential to upgrade his contract for 2020.

The Tigers decided against upgrading the contract and allowed the centre to test his value on the market.

He has since travelled to the Cowboys to meet club officials and has been granted a release. He is set to join the Townsville club next season.

The Tigers, who have been criticised for paying overs for players in the past, are hellbent on ensuring history doesn’t repeat itself and were not willing to match what the Cowboys were willing to pay.

Marsters gets married on Friday, with coach Michael Maguire expected to be in attendance such is the relationship between player and coach.

Maguire recently met Dragons rising star Zac Lomax and Marsters's departure could open the door for the Tigers to pounce if St George Illawarra release him.

The Tigers are expected to put their faith in young gun Tommy Talau, while the Cowboys get the much-needed boost to their back line they were after.

What do you mean “if” when it’s actually a matter of “when”?

He is the face, the CEO and as I said better than Doust IMO and could be a scapegoat if in fact he goes as per rumours. No need to add more.

Ha..speaking to journos... direct quotes Ok...i must be wrong. Players never toe the club line do they..but if he said it fullback it is. We will see.

The Board did not force him to make the statements he made supporting McGregor.
They were personal endorsements and he should be accountable.
What's worse is he has been invisible while the club slides into oblivion in 2019.
Apologies, but I am not in the mood for letting him off the hook.

I heard Millward has approached both Jake Marketo to return to us as a replacement for Luch and theyre trying to get Tom Carr back from Bullgrubs as a replacement for Lomax

I love our club!

You forget our future fullback target in James Schiller from Young Cherrypickers..he starts with us after his HSC for season 2020. Probably will hopefully start in reggies to get a few games under his belt but is earmarked as a future 1st grade fullback and is not easy rag dolled.?!
looks far better than anyone we currently have thought about as FB, reminds me of a young Graham Bradley

I am not saying letting him off the hook. But he has been the only one that has been visible to talk to anyone about what has gone on and that is the CEO's job and endorsements have to toe the line with board thinking and decisions. He does not make decisions alone.
Not saying he is doing a good job either..but Id rather him than Doust is all I have said and that he has to be face of whatever decisons are made...you are making everything he has said as personally his thoughts. So agree to disagree

Correct...Without going into detail, our problems run much deeper...Even a certain former coach sussed it out pretty quickly which began to ruffle a few feathers...

Sorry while Johnston inherited a Club with real issues and a Board that appears unable to move forward,I don’t buy him being a victim of his Board. He is the Club CEO for god sake and he was heavily involved with the Club’s leadership before. Better than Doust? Maybe, but his early work would appear to challenge that. Under Doust’s watch we won our first title for over 30 years but Doust also oversaw the Price and MacGregor era. BJ has shown nothing in 2019 to indicate he will be our knight in shining armour. If, as you say he was given no choice in the appointment of Mary than why have a CEO at all? I might be being harsh but I think we hoped the BJ the gutsy, smart and courageous player he was would carry those qualities into the CEO’s chair. So far he hasn’t and what it looks like is another situation where jobs for the boys has bitten us on the bum.

One year BJ..Doust had plenty. CEO's answer to the board, thats they way it works and cant make all the big decisions alone is all I have ever said
I am frustrated as the rest over decisons made and how the club is travelling and recruitment, retention and anythng else you can think of but it is not a one man band and just offering my balanced view.
We will see what happens over the next year or so before I jump off board.
