We're lucky to have some of the best medical practitioners in the world here mate, so as others have noted, trust your doctors but make informed decisions. Stay strong and positive. Stay close to your friends and family, they will help you through this. This is going to sound stupid, but try to keep a sense of humour where you can, you'll be amazed at the difference it makes. My wife is going through treatment for breast cancer at the moment, and if it wasn't for her humour I'd be struggling. Take care.
Thanks @The Word
Your advice is appreciated.

All the best to you & your wife as well.

Sorry to hear this BAF. For what it's worth I am just coming to the end of a 5 weeks chemo and radiation treatment to hopefully shrink a tumour in my oesophagus. The plan is to make surgical removal easier and minimise the spread of the cancer to other organs which they say is a feature of this type of cancer. I guess everyone is different but my first week or so was fairly smooth sailing, but by the fourth & fifth week the pain in my digestive tract started to gain momentum and the specialist gave me painkillers. I am now living on yoghurt and Sustagen and of course beer is off the menu.
I wish you all the best.
All the best to you too @merahputih with your recovery.
Today is the start of 7 weeks for me & have been told it’ll start getting rough after about 2 weeks.
Already have a feeding tube in for if or when I won’t be able to eat or drink.

All the best champion, hoping you get through strong, we love having you around here.

I will say that when I am looking for medical experiences, I google search and append 'reddit' at the end, and there is a pretty good chance you will get a bunch of real peoples personal experiences.

Hey there mate, if it's any consolation to you, I'll be sending Reiki to you by a long distance. keep your chin up mate, do not google what you're going through because I think it may only bring you down.
but you've got a great chance; it's up to you and it will be in the lap of the Gods! Trust the universe.
My best thoughts are with you mate!

Thanks mate,
Googled it at first weeks ago but when I saw the specialist & surgeon both said to never read Dr Google & it went straight out the window.

Hi all sorry to bother you but I’m starting Chemo & Radiation tomorrow for my throat & was looking for any advice as far as what to do or not do from anyone who has been through this before & what to expect.
Thanks in advance.
All the best mate. I don't have any advice but want to give your added strength and encouragement to fight the good fight and overcome this challenge. We will be thinking of you.

Blacksafake, you have shown great courage in posting this information here.
Big props to you.

Like a lot of others, I have no personal experience with this matter, but can imagine your courage will be invaluable over the coming weeks.
I wish you all the best mate.
