If you look at all the Hollywood movies of Christ like King of Kings etc, The actor who played Christ in the King of Kings was told told to shave his arm pits and Chest.
Mel decided to be different in his movie Potrayal of Christ, Dirty unshaven, poor as people lived in those times.
Mel also said that he wanted to show the world that all the beatings and
whippings that Jesus took, he still had love for the Human Race.....
