I was actually down on Phuket a month or so ago on a working holiday. Stayed in a new resort named Homa. f**king awesome!

Patong though? Meh... Too touristy.
Plenty of nicer beaches around the island.

Yeah Karon Beach down to Rawai (sp?) all better than Patong. Make sure you get down to Rawai seafood market and have a feed. Awesome!
