I don't think it was Beattie but way my memories going lately , who knows ? only sure about Lang saying that about an overweight recruit. Probably because to a fan like me with zilch experience at higher levels of the game ( ie past schoolyard and backyard) one obvious observation is overweight players who stand out. So I remembered the substance of the quote . Maybe not so much of the detail. May have been added in dementia addled later years. Give me a break....Im almost as old as some of the old farts in here.
