Hawke was nothing but drunken vermin.

He dragged us even further into the pit of leftist, anti-family, open borders, "free trade" globalist excrement that was first dug out by that fat Communist Whitlam, and was then after himself dug even deeper by that supercilious nancy-boy servant of international banking, Keating.

May be burn in torture forever in the fires of Hell.

Son of a preacher who became an atheist, adulterer and drunk so fair chance of that. On the other hand he did bring in a scheme that provided health care on demand for all Australians regardless of means and brought about consensus between conflicting interest groups so it might take a while to tally up his score card.

Had the absolute pleasure of meeting him twice as an EX PM. Both times involve a long and funny story of his unique and non pompous character. He was so down to Earth & grounded with the average Joe Blow. He made a lasting impression on me even though I never voted for him. RIP Hawkey

He’s already lived in hell with people who quickly pass judgement on his character.
Interesting that when he became PM he didn’t have 1 alcoholic drink for over 8 years until he left parliament.
So he was a man of great vision who could see his own weakness and for the greater good of the public interest put his own interests last.
No score card to tally up and as far as being an atheist or an adulterer that has no bearing on how he performed his job as PM which by the way he did for the greater good of the many and never passed judgement on who or what you were.
A lesson in that for the likes of you and Splinters.

Forgot to say your political history is a little foggy
Whitlam and Hayden were responsible for the introduction of universal healthcare Medibank in 73 which was almost obliterated by Fraser during his time as PM (the Libs hated it and always voted against it and only a joint sitting of both houses after a double dissolution got the legislation passed) and then it had to be overhauled by Hawke when he came to power and re badged Medicare.

He had the gift of calming the unions down with the accord and walking the liberals side of the street with big business. No wonder the Liberals were stuffed ( until unity broke down in the Labor party, sound familiar ? )

As I said earlier I just wish he had honoured the Kirribilli agreement with Keating i see it as a blot on an otherwise pretty clean slate.
I firmly believe if that transition had occurred cleanly as promised then Keating may have in fact won 2 elections not just the "true believer" one against Hewson.
Of course Howard ultimately did the dame thing to Costello and have a look at how that all turned out for the Libs.
The true colossus's of Australian politics are falling and IMO Keating now holds the flame for those who had real vision for our great country.
After him a very poor lot indeed.

"what a disgusting post"

I have made this point before. This is a footie forum. It is NOT the right place to drag in politics. Surely the OP is aware that while some people may think politician X is a saint, others may regard him as the devil. Even a child would know that.

If you don't want to hear a political opinion here that hurts your sensitive leftie ears, don't post your own.

The passing of Bob Hawke is totally irrelevant to this site. Absolutely and totally. So stop posting politics here. It is entirely OFF TOPIC.

As for the recommendation that my post be deleted, isn't that perfectly par for the leftist course? Lefties are always very keen on censoring opinions they don't like (and ultimately imprisoning those who hold those opinions).

So we know where you stand on free speech at least. Free for you, but for no one else. No surprising at all.

Again, this is a FOOTIE forum! Let's keep it to football.

Hawke was a game changer with political policies which allowed many to achieve more today. One of the last true great Labor leaders. Great Aussie larrikan
and at the same time very intelligent.
Truly loved his sport particularly Cricket. RIP

Actually it was completely obliterated by Fraser except as a Government run health insurance business. Hawke started a new and much more robust scheme. Medibank continued to exist in that form until sold off in 2014.

Bit rich to talk about content others put on this site when you only average 1.5 contributions per month yourself..

If you only want to read football topics, perhaps don’t click on the only thread which clearly labels itself off topic..

Show some respect..

In my time, the three greatest prime ministers were Whitlam, Hawk and Keating, if people who bash them need to google the achievements each made and how their actions affected generations then, now and in the future.
It is obvious I am a true labor voter and supporter of Unions, who also achieved the benefits workers now enjoy.

Firstly, the topic was labeled OT, for all to see.

Your second paragraph, is utter bullshit, ... where did I post a "political opinion " ? I merely brought to light the passing of of a prime Minister.

As to your third paragraph, refer above.

Yoi then carry on about some requesting that your post be deleted as apparently everyone here is some leftist extremist. How do you know the political leaning of all of those whom have posted here , offering their condolences ? One can be right , left, independent and still show some respect.

In fact, I admit I was wrong. Leave your post out there to show what an insensitive turd you are.

I can only refer to @muzby 's post re your last paragraph. You only want to read footie stuff, don't click on OT matters.

I maintain your post was vile, and appaling. Now, move onto another thread related to footy, or dive deep into the web and find the many hate filled extreme sites that may engage your fury.
