Potentially we are or can be the most powerful club in the country. Great leagues club, massive juniors, huge fan base nation wide with a rich history. Sadly the results haven't helped, both on and off the field.

Had we jagged 01, 05 and 09, would this even be a discussion????

Mate, our leagues club is small, our massive juniors are less relevant given there are 2 other teams within cooee of us in West Tigers and Penrith and to be honest, any club in Sydney can poach our juniors easily, our membership doesn't reflect our overall nationwide fan base and apart from the 80's what rich history do you speak of?

I call BS on us being a powerful club. Maybe we want to be and maybe we could be but we aren't - simple.

I don't cop any shit from anyone when it comes to Parra, especially when it's some fu*kwit who is a closet fan who you never hear from when their team is shit.

We are not a powerful club, but we have the potential to be. Too bad no-one has been able to unlock all this potential.

I don't actually think that the size of our junior system (given that it is within a multi-team city) is a great benefit anymore. We invest in a larger number of players and probably will tend to hang on to too many for fear of what happens if they go elsewhere. Clubs with more modest junior systems can be far more objective about which young blokes they want to target. While we get a modest scouting advantage, we can't stop other teams scouting them as youngsters. The game has changed somewhat.

Yep, you said that "potentially we are or could be the most powerful club in the country".
And then you supported that with 3 criteria that I refuted, hence I refute your suggestion that we potentially are or could be the most powerful club in the country.

Any of the 16 clubs in the competition could potentially be the most powerful based on your criterium so why are we supposed to be and not the others?

Well I reckon we would be powerful except for Ricky... :D

Well he certainly set us back along with a long list of other perpetual f**k ups. I do seriously think though that our administration is in the best shape that it has been in for years and I'm more confident than I have been in a long time that we are on the verge of turning the corner.

I hope you're right Tony. I truly do.
In the meantime, I'll continue to wear my Eels jumper to the shops also to my daughters netball and son's football on Saturdays, and watch us on tv.
I will not however, spend any more money on them until I start seeing something in return.
Bandwagoner - NO.
Wise, yes.

Thought about doing this myself.
I just can't bring myself to do it. Not yet anyway.
I've given up going to any away games at least. But I am positive I will still be buying my season ticket again next year. I'm way too much of a sucker.

I wouldn't go calling you a bandwagoner at all.
A cheap bastard maybe...but not a bandwagoner. ;-)

I hear you mate. I've still got a season ticket but I've only made one game at home this year so far. Not that I haven't wanted to go more - I've just decided that surfing around the world and the country is more rewarding right now. I just got back from surfing Rote in West Timor but I still managed to watch the Eels in Bali on the way and in WA on the way back. It still kills me to miss a game and I don't feel like I'm any less of a supporter watching it on TV.

There are certain times in life you have to watch the pennies.
I'm going through one of them now.
Therefore, my money can be spent better elsewhere, and is.
Seriously, be f**ked if I'm going to fork out watching this circus, when I can go and get a one off ticket to Ashton's and see the same stuff.

Same here. Better things to spend my money on, and as I said, I won't miss a minute on tele.
