Not necessarily career ending but plenty of players over the years have failed to make a complete recovery. Feel sorry for the Widdop who seems to be a decent guy and a talented footballer. As far as the steelers go.......faarrrkk them.

Bo Jackson. He ended up with a hip replacement.

Hopefully for widdop, he didnt compress any vessels or nerves when it went back in.

The club and his doctors need to keep their eye on the blood supply to the femoral head. If the blood supply is interrupted, then he is at a huge risk of avascular necrosis. If this happens then part of the articular surface will/can die and he will be farged.

that is why they they were careful not to move him I reckon. Will do it in hospital. they must have morphed up the poor prick in the sheds if that is the case.

Yeah that's a job for an orthopod and at least 10 of midazolam.

The risk there is wait too long and everything swells and blood supply is compromised or let a GP with a sports med certificate do it on the sideline.

Pretty sure Ivan Cleary suffered one towards the end of his career...... Not sure that it ended his career though.

I think Lawrence is a good parallel. He is seen as a success from the injury but certainly not the player he was before it. From memory he was out for around 12 months anyhow.

What is the story for the Dragons? Surely the contract has a major injury get out. Or are they committed and stuffed with the cap.
