Other Games 2025

Interesting comment from Phil Gould on 100% Footy last Monday.

He said the Bulldogs played 13 straight games without a bye at the backend of their season. When the Panthers rested their whole team in Round 26 they “flirted with the idea to do the same”. But they decided no we have to lock up the top 4 spot with a definite win.

So once they did lock it up why didn’t they rest there team in the “dead rubber” against the Sharks in Round 27??? How bizarre. It should’ve been a no brainer if you were seriously considering it against the Panthers.

All I can think of is what I stated at the time. Helping out a former Panther Assistant Coach in Webster at the Warriors.

Storm were playing the Broncos and at the time most people thought they’d get the Broncos.

Then if the Bulldogs beat us it would’ve given the Warriors the chance to finish 4th with a win against Manly.

So not only did the Dogs not rest some tired players against us but playing the full strength team back fired badly. Cat 1 concussion to Xerri and further injuries to some already busted players leading into a game in the finals against the Storm in Melbourne.

The self sabotage from Ciraldo this season was just crazy bad. From the Lachie Galvin circus to the not resting players in a dead rubber against us.

Canterbury are still a mile off a premiership imo. Getting absolutely pumped by Penrith in when it matters most shows you that. I think they had too many middle sized forwards as well as causing that chaos with Galvin. They peaked way, way too early and seeing that smug prick Gould have to cop it on the chin is glorious

It’s a big off season for making some massive calls on their spine.

Hooker and Halfback leaving a Club is major surgery.

I’m not one of those thinking they naturally finish in the top 8 next season. There will be a lot of improvement from Clubs like the Dolphins and Parramatta. Dogs will have their teething problems for sure.

I think Parramatta will be big improver next season, can see it's starting to come together for them.

That, and imo Burton is one of the most overated footballers I've seen.

And a terrible half.

Much better as a centre or backrower/lock.
