On paper it looked a pretty miserable Sunday but the games were entertaining enough.

I am sure they would have been. They certainly had the reason too.
They are more shall we say desperate now to finish in the top 4. Bellamy would be pissed at missing that opportunity of finishing higher.

I am also annoyed that the Storm lost. I would rather face Cronulla. There is that but would have also preferred Roosters to be 6th. Much tougher game for them then either Raiders or Broncos who are hopeless ATM.

whoever we play in week 1 will likely not be the GF like last year - I expect Penrith to win and the toll from that game will be hard for the losing team to be up for the next game.

I think it will be 2020 GF rematch - and I think that's the motivation our squad needs - redemption for the 2020 GF.

I don't mind facing the Storm in w1. They'll have come off an intense, physical game which will hopefully knock the wind out of them and we'll have had a week off. There's a reasonable chance that we'll have to beat them at some point in the coming month to lift the trophy. Doing so early and knocking down into the trenches before (maybe) facing them at the back end of a brutal, energy sapping month is better than them finishing 3rd, coasting past the Sharks and getting a week off before the last couple of games.

While Parra concern me, the Storm are the second most likely premier this year. They'll have a much harder path to the premiership coming 4th than they would 3rd.

Big Nelson will get charged again for some grubby act and escape with a fine. Just the way it is. He is a really nice bloke off the field thou by all accounts.

I don’t think it really matters at the end of the day.

The best side doesn’t always finish on top in any competition where there is a finals series. It is never guaranteed. So many variables, can’t take anything for granted. If I had a preference I would prefer to play the Eels despite the fact they have beaten us twice this year.
