However, it was the performance of halfback Lachlan Galvin that drew the most scrutiny.

Sounds like he had a shocker.
I watched that game. He had a good running game but you need that from your 6, not your 7. Just has no organisational skills, struggles to read overlaps and get the ball out to players when it's on. His passing game is terrible and he doesn't hit anyone on the chest or get the ball in front of them to run on. His only play seems to be the short ball to Preston, which he does execute well, but everyone is awake to that now and are defending it better.

Although I didn't think it at the time, we dodged a bullet there.

We’ve got a bloke wearing no.6 who is on more money than Galvin & who is locked into a long term contract who has been very underwhelming & not much better than Galvin.Problem is that Galvin is better suited to lock long term & had he amiably remained with us I’ve no doubt he would’ve ended up at 13.The kid certainly has talent albeit I so hope he is an abject failure at the dogs to stick it up the wicked bedfellows Gould & Isaac Moses

Preston is a great edge runner on that right side though. I think he makes Galvin look better than what he is. I'm not sure what Galvin's best position. I don't think he is a quality 7 in this comp though. It'll be interesting how this plays out.

The beautiful things is Gould won’t let Ciraldo drop him, so the dogs are
doomed.

Everyone talks up Ciraldo as running the team, but in my opinion Gould has his hands all over team selections. Why would Ciraldo move Burton and Creighton positionally in the 2nd half last week, yet pick the same team this week. It reeks of Gould telling Ciraldo who to pick and where, and Ciraldo trying to fix it on the run, during the game.

There's no doubt Gould has a great football brain. But the only thing bigger than his knowledge is his ego, and with that comes an inability to admit to mistakes. I don't think it's any accident that the past 2 teams Gould's been involved with haven't won comps until after he's left.

Gould also organised Galvin too imo. Maybe we should thank him. 😺
