Our Forwards (lack of hunger, mongrel, mateship)

I would like to see what most people think about our forward pack.

Now on paper our pack is good and more than capable of matching meters gained with most clubs however, that’s where the positives stop for me.
For weeks (actually years) I think its embarrassing that Gal has been the heart and soul of our forward pack, he is so dam consistent. I can’t understand why no other forward has tried to emulate what Gal does?????? How can the leading meters gained for our team last night come from someone who is injured????

Other packs are not fearful of our pack, just Gal. Most other clubs know we won’t stick it to them, just Gal. Let’s look at a few scenarios last night that really sum up what our current forward pack and team culture is all about:

1) just before halftime one of the Roosters big coconut’s grabs Stapleton and wants to go on with it, we had several of our guys right near but nothing until Cordoba runs in after its all over and the Roosters had restrained their own player.
2) a similar thing happened to Williams but not one of our team decided that this was unacceptable, team just walk all over us.
3) when Gal got nailed not one of our soft pricks got aggro, if seeing your inspirational leader get unfairly smashed doesn’t incite some aggression nothing will. Hargreaves cleaned him up and the coconut Mose finished him off and our guys just stood there and watched Gal fall to the ground. Where the f**k was big, hard as nails Snowden (I’m being jovial here)? He is a dam cat and hasn’t played a good game since being dropped from SOO and signing for the Knights. And let’s look at Douglas, a good player and gets meters but he will never scare anybody in a dark alley let alone throw it all out the window in the name sticking up for your comrades.

There is just no hunger or passion in the team, namely the forwards, Snowdon and Douglas have their minds elsewhere, Topps clearly couldn’t give a f**k, smith tries hard but is one dimensional, Morris and aiton are wasters, Bakuya could be a shining light but way too injury prone. I Think Tagtease has potential but f**ktard Flanagan plays him for 30 seconds a game and Cordoba is worse than me

Thoughts?

Good points.

For 2012, I can at least see Bryce Gibbs showing a bit of mongrel.

I know from experience as a pig (of absolutely no repute) that there was nothing more inspirational than to be busting your guts for the team and to turn around and continually see over-rated underperforming backs farkin' up.

We have had "the backs" problem for how many seasons now.... how many f**king' seasons.

Eventually it would grind a good pack down. i know it would me. But I come from a different era and we wouldof had different ways of rectifying the problem.

Jeremy smith had a dig. I agree when Gal got smoked our soft coc$ just stood there like stunned mullets. Our team looked scared last night. There was no mongrel after that Gal coat hanger and his next run someone should have manned up and taken his head off.

Snowden is weak as piss and I'm quite surprised how scared he was last night. Dougy isn't known as a fighter and last night showed that. Some may say I'm mad but I'm happy these are 2 guys are leaving us. Could u imagine Les Davidson or Spud Carroll's reaction had their captain been coat hangered?

I suppose the end of the first half wrapped it up when frank paul tried to blue Stapo...he back pedaled

Smith was in there every time when one of the boys got belted... I think Gibbs will help bring them together as from all reports he is an awesome club man. Smith, Gallen and Taga all have aggressive attitudes it's just rare they all fire at the same time. The forwards got belted last night, Mose owned them.

Frenzy.

Not being missed at all at the Tigs given their recent performances

I suppose that comment is purely based on personal opinion.

I can tell you the players don't think that what so ever. There has been talks within the team that a certain bench player has no right being there over Fifita. It's more a blooding thing then anything else.

Just based on their results of late.

No doubt Fifita offers something different to Groat and Woods in that he is more of an attacking threat. I can only presume that Sheens believes that they have enough attack and that blooding Groat and Woods will see them in better stead next year without.

Either way, I hope that it ensures a motivated Fifita come day 1 of pre season. He is a crucial recruit for us.

What Quigs said about the forwards losing their momentum due to frustration at our backs undoing all their work reaaly makes alot of sense. But it is still unacceptable considering Gal's input week in week out. They should all cop slap upside the head. As for our backs, Gards has had a few crap games at the back, especially with in goal kicks. I hope the bring someone in to work with him during the off season. I'm sure peach would.

My opinion FWIW is that meters gained don't mean a great deal in isolation. It's how those meters are made, particularly in the context of play the ball speed. Snowy is a big culprit here.. he lumbers through the line and is never concerned with making the next ruck easier for his mate.

On the occasion we get a snappy play the ball, Morris often looks lost when scooting. It's the same with our second phase... there seems no plan to it. If it happens it's rarely positive; it's dumped out the back to a bloke who tries to take off back into the teeth... never any advantage with pulling the retreating line up again.

I know this post is criticism from an arm chair coach... but it's my opinion anyway.

His brother David, is really having a dig in NSW Cup. We all hope he stays in the Tigers' system.

Woods and Groat are playing very well and it is hard to argue with Sheens' decision.

I am a Fifita fan but he may be carrying an injury?
