Our Future????

After a year of some close results, the last two weeks disappointing efforts I can only say the future looks grim unless the following is adressed
1. The board grows a set of balls and addresses with the NRL the pathetic state of how the lower teams, and in particular the Dragons are discriminated against and targeted by referees and the bunker with ridiculous interpretations of the rules. This is occuring with monotonous regularity.
2. Questionable strategy of recruitment of slow old washed up players to ensure we have real competition for promotion to top grade
3. The board, GM of football, coach's, all staff and players are held accountable for their performances.

When Flannaghan was appointed coach we were told 2024 was a year of consolidation and 2025 would see real improvement…this has not happened. We are now told 2026 will be a rebuild year and 2027 a year of real improvement.

There seems to be no accountability for lack of performance across the board. The areas which need to be reviewed:
1. Injuries and conditioning….the high performance group across the board should be sacked… we have never had so many injuries and fitness always looks to be an issue. Remember when Flano first started he said we would be fitter and leaner than ever before… this has not happened.. WHY?
2. Defensive coaching… our strategy has even passive defence… wait for the attackers to come to us… this has been a dismal fail. Replace whoever is the defense coach
3. Recruitment has been an abysmal failure for 15 years… we didn’t even have a recruitment manager for over 18 months… can anyone explain why??… Hopefully Anderson achieves some positive outcomes but this will obviously take time. I only hope the talented juniors coming through have the patience to wait to start seeing positive results… I’m fearing some won’t.
4. With Lancaster and new CeO there are some green shoots in terms of club management…. but for goodness sake could someone fix that incessant background noise I hear during press conferences at Kogarah… been there all season
5.obviously stuck with the coach for at least 2 more years…I think he needs fresh talent to be assistant coaches…Flano is an old war horse and his methods are outdated…2 new younger assistants… Young needs to go… if he’s still there next year we are not serious….. see what Ryles has achieved in 1 season and the style of football the Eels play… admittedly they have Moses as half

just my thoughts

No future till we get our identity back and history as 1 club . No merger its now a franchise club with 2 owners that is all it is a money grab business.
We as fans are fustrated they give us nothing with no success on the field.
All we get is wow a service of excellence is coming and we have a new Ceo .
No direction with marquee players to be signed but just rejects that clubs dont want.

Our last 10 years:

2016 - 11th
2017 - 9th
2018 - 7th
2019 - 15th
2020 - 12th
2021 - 11th
2022 - 10th
2023 - 16th
2024 - 11th
2025 - 15th probably

What a sh*show. Anyone who reckons we are improving is delusional. We are stuck in the bottom half of the table with seemingly no plan beyond blind faith and irrational hope. I'd love to hear from the board and the new CEO as to what their plans are going forward, but I suspect they don't have any.

We are not the only ones targeted by referees. The NRL however do have agendas & scenarios that they want.
We are definitely not part of that at the moment.
Last night to Cowboys had no hope & the Warriors were ripped off by the bucker.
To me the NRL's agenda at the moment is to get the Broncos into the to 4.
They tell us that the rule changes are to make the game better, but in reality it just makes it easier to manipulate games. Obviously they cannot fully control the outcome, but over a long season little things make a difference.

Trying to make the refereeing more consistent for all teams should be a priority, But it does not suit them.

Another thing is that the salary cap or lack of it for some clubs.
And going against anti tampering rules & steeling players and getting away with it. - eg: Galvin.

Now whether we would have won the game or not against the Dogs a few weeks ago is irrelevant, but the BS penalty call by the bunker to Kiraz who didn't get to his feet to play the ball was just blatant cheating to give the Dogs a chance to win. There is no way if we (or any other lowly ranked side) were playing one of the favoured teams and we did that would the bunker overturn the refs call of not playing the ball correctly.

It‘s f&*king shameful isn’t it? Completely unacceptable. Except if you’re the clowns steering the SS.Dargons straight into the rocks and still collecting your paycheck every year with zero accountability.
That‘a so depressing.

End of the season review needed what they did to JD is what they think of the loyal fans . Embarrassing every year with no success with finals footy .
2 years with Flanagan combo and we are below parra tigers souths this season.
Boycott the last game in protest no show .
Getting closer to the wooden spoon 2026 .

She's sweet mate.
Just have to be patient.
Can't you just be patient?!

And Kyle's been one of our best.
and missed finals in 2012,2013,2014 as well and went from first on the table 2 games ahead of second place until Bennett stopped coaching the team mid season in 2011.
The experiment is a failure and dragons will not be competitive until there is one owner who is passionate about winning and is willing to invest in the team the current structure with Winn and St George is not working neither side is willing to make the investment to make the club a winning team.
