Worth and Smith...interesting

I feel Norrie was quite hard done by.

Nathan Smith on the bench? That is weird to say the least

i'm happy Moors is there

How much are Flegg gonna dominate with Sammut, Tia Kilifi, Jennings, Grant, Daniella, Hlad and Paulo in there. IMO the Flegg backline is just as good, if not better than the First Grade one.

Our bench will be an impact on the game.

Most of the successful teams have always had good impact off the bench, hopefully we will get this.

Youngquest and Gordon playing on the same side would look quite small in defense. I know Gordon is a better than average defender but against much larger opposition they could struggle.

I don't think I would have picked that as the side Matt Elliot would have picked in a million years. But then again I guess we haven't been used to the unexpecteded over the last few years.

Honestly expected to see Firman get the nod ahead of Wallace, interested to see how Gordon handles centre and interesting to see how Smith fits into the plans if he makes the cut come saturday night.

Nah his not injured I think Wallace is just first choice no doubt in part because he got more game time in the trials.

At this point, i just can't wait to watch some footy. Elliot sure named a surprising side, so it's going to be interesting for Panthers fans.

Here is a really short interview with Elliot from PI about why he picked Moor, Smith and Worth.

Mar 13 - Matthew Elliot spoke exclusively to PI today about the selection of Moors, Smith and Worth.

PI: You've named three players who are going to make their debut for the Panthers, one of them will be making his NRL first grade debut - what comments can you offer about those players?

Elliott: "The thing I suppose, the comment across the board is, what we did is set out before the trial process saying that whoever played well in the trials was going to get the opportunity to play first grade. I’m sharing this decision with you, but all those guys made the decision for themselves.

"Junior in particular is a young guy who has been at the club for a while and perhaps felt like he’d stagnated. He’s getting his opportunity to make his debut as a result of his application from the pre-season and how he played in the trials. He was outstanding.

"Nathan Smith and Worthy, again these guys are coming off the bench - Worthy has been really good for us in the trial process. He hasn’t played a lot of first grade footy, he’s already shown his value to us. And Nathan Smith has great utility value as an outside back and a back rower and again, he had two really good trials. I’m excited for them, particularly Junior making his first grade debut, it’s a big thing and he’s a local junior and (I’m) really happy for all three of them."

I'm happy with that line up.

There must be an injury if there is an 18 man squad, unless Elliott is deciding to make the Sharks guess right up until kick off. But it's great to see Moors finally get a run... he'll do good!

I was amongst those who thought Jennings would play - but I could see the reasons why. Once he starts ripping it up in PL, he'll be demanding a spot!

Jennings has been out injured recently so I don't suppose they would bring him straight back into firsts.
