Our stats worry me.

According to nrl.com the Dragons ;
*Are 4 points clear of 2nd
*Most points scored
*Least points conceded
*Best points differential by a street
*Most metres run
*Most completions
*Best effective possession, whatever that means
*Best kick return metres
*Top point scorer
*Leading try scorer
*Biggest loss only 4 points.

Also, from memory listening to commentators:
*Most tries scored from own half
*Only team yet to concede a try from opposition half.

My worry is, are these stats too good? Can they keep this going?

Fingers are crossed.

with any other NRL coach, no chance. But with Master Bennett at the helm there is no reason why we can't.

Our biggest loss was by 6 points (Newcastle @ Kogarah in April) The other stats are all correct.

If we don't win it this year, it will be the choke of all chokes. But under Bennett nobody chokes!

Melbourne had similar stats in '07 (except they lost a game by 18 and another by 10) and won it. There is no saying we can't.

How many other teams fans complain when they have the NRL's best stats? We need to lose this mentality that we get in when we play well. Let's enjoy watching complete football.

Agreed, but then after thirty years of scars, it is something I'm still learning. It doesn't come easy when worry and superstition are your defence mechanisms every winter.

I am certainly enjoying it (feel like a kid now looking at the table and sussing out every Saints article).

Have to disagree with the comment that if we don't win we'll have choked. Thats a pet hate of mine from other teams supporters. To be sure, there have been chokes, but sometimes you just get beaten by a team that plays well (or ref that doesn't).

But the result of a Grand Final (or a semi or preliminary for that matter) can all come down to one play on the day.

And everything that has happened during the whole of the season leading up to the finals means nothing.

What I like is that we haven't played our best football yet, been starting to click last few weeks, but I can't wait to see a full team firing on all cylinders - the semis are going to be a great show.

We could go through the season undefeated, put all of our starting 17 into Origin and win that, go through the Finals unscathed, and win the Gradn Final and get beaten by 1 point in the World Club Challenge and people would still come out and say we choked.

one thing i like about our fans is the lack of arrogance that other fans have..

if it was any other club, their fans would be singing from the rafters that it is 'their year'..

however we are much more humble..

then again, it could simply be due to sheer fear after previous finals periods..

After everything we have endured over the past 20-30 years, we have a lot of reason to be complacent.

Over the last couple of months, I have been sitting here not even game to think about a GF berth let alone a GF win.

I dare not contemplate such an event. I would be more than happy to make the top 4 and go from there. Can you imagine the sh!t that will be dished up to us on these forums if we don't end up in the GF, we will be massacred.

Do we have the team, coach and ability to go on with it, of course we do, we know it and so does everyone else. But to think about such an event, makes the hair on the back of my neck stand on edge. The football gods can at times be very cruel and I certainly don't like the idea of counting my chickens before they hatch.

Having said that, Go you mighty Dragons.

Other supporters don't come into the equation. If we fall short, they'll be trolling on about chocker this, choker that. If we win the premiership, they'll be crying foul about the salary cap, couldn't done it without Bennett, or some other crap about buying juniors.

Don't let the hyopcrites get in the way of a good time. Right now, I'm just enjoying the ride.

I remember in Main Game, that Dragons have conceded a try from the opposition half, the only team to yet concede one is the Bulldogs. But that was a couple of weeks ago.
