Walters' wife accuses Broncos of stealing husband's slogan
By Sacha Mirzabegian

The wife of Maroons coach Kevin Walters has lashed the Brisbane Broncos on social media, calling her husband’s former club “a pack of c---“.

Walters was controversially ruled out of getting the top job after it was given to Anthony Seibold in a coach swap deal with South Sydney, despite having a long storied career with the club. Walters quit his assistant coaching role with Broncos after the decision and admitted to feeling disappointed by the rejection.

And it appears those feelings haven’t subsided, for his wife anyway, with Walters’ better half taking aim at the club for stealing a slogan that Walters proposed during the interview process.

According to the Courier Mail, Walters presented a document titled “Better Never Stops” at the interview and now Mrs Walters has accused the Broncos of using those same words on marketing banners ahead of the 2019 NRL season.

“Driving around the city today, I noticed the Broncos have launched their 2019 marketing campaign. The exact theme Kevin presented in his ‘interview,’” Mrs Walters said on social media.

“What’s the collective term for a group of horses/broncos? A team? More like a pack of c***s.”

The Broncos have denied the slogan originated from Walters and that it had been around the club well before the interview.

“We would respectfully disagree with what has been said about the issue on social media,” Brisbane communications boss Steele Tallon told the Courier Mail.

The Broncos claim the slogan was well part of the club’s marketing campaign before Walters’ interview.

Mrs Walters took to social media to clarify her position.

“I’d like to clarify that I’m not suggesting that we hold IP rights to that cliche. There are rarely new ideas in sport marketing. In truth we borrowed it from the 2012 GB Olympic team,” she wrote.

“I was simply expressing my frustration at the coincidental timing.”

Cheers for the well informed comment, Mrs. Walters. Tell us more about what it takes to coach the biggest sporting club in the country.

I'll pay that, that's f**king funny.
She has talent but it could have been a tighter joke. Remove the word "horses" and lose that "a team?" question - cut straight to the punchline. She could do well on the Brisbane open mic circuit.

I'd like to congratulate Mrs Walters on her accurate assessment of the Donkeys. There seems to be some confusion as to the blanked out word though....whether it is merkins or knobs. No need for concern though... both are entirely appropriate for the Broncos.

To be fair it's more that everyone involved in any sort of marketing in history is a certifiable merkin. The broncos are really all great guys and if we're honest, the only thing keeping the NRL afloat.

Shithouse slogan anyway.

But this little kerfuffle makes it worthwhile.

I wonder if this Souffs coach is going to be worth all of this bad blood?
