Maybe he just isn't worried about playing league right now the club has helped him he's got a job maybe he wants to spend some time with his family.

If it was me and I spent that much time away from my family league would be the last thing on my mind.

Also maybe he's been advised he may not even be allowed to play this year Ferguson had to seat out and I wouldn't be surprised he'd have to do the same.

Ferguson did his time away from the game as did Packer.
From the little I have been told, expect to see Packer in the Red V this year.
He has done all and more of what has been asked.
What he did was abhorrent, but no double jeopardy here.
Incarceration was much worse, and deservedly so, than sitting out a season.

I hope the Dragons and Packer have reached an agreement and I also hope a contract has been delivered to the NRL for registration.

It would be nice to think that Doust has been following this up with the NRL on a regualar basis because in my opinion his inclusion in our 17 would be a big plus.

Thx WCD, just an exert from the link.

Maybe the NRL needs to get in contact with people close to Packer.

We understand he continues to impress with the way he is going about rebuilding his life. Packer’s daily ritual starts with getting up in the dark to train by himself. Then it’s off to work before he trains with the Illawarra Cutters in the early evening. At night he sits down to study, undertaking TAFE courses to improve his education.

We are also told he hasn’t touched a drop of alcohol in all this time. But as the weeks go by, you have to wonder if the NRL’s process to rehabilitation is not designed to break him.

Many might argue after a year in jail away from his young family, he has already done his time.

Below is a copy of the article.

AS the weeks roll on, problems confronting the NRL seem to mount up.

This week we had the State of Origin ticketing fiasco. That’s on top of the concussion controversy, and don’t even mention referees. So it’s no wonder we haven’t heard anything more about if/when Russell Packer will be allowed to return to the game.

We have been told for months how Packer first has to prove he is a “fit and proper person”. We were told the same thing again this week. I wonder if this situation would be different if Packer was heading to the Dogs, Roosters, Bunnies, Broncos or Storm.

I think it is about time that Doust started to throw is weight arround!

Things move slowly at the Dragons. There was also talk about a possible comeback from Scott a few weeks back. Haven't heard anything since.
