He can't even remember living in NZ lol.

What if a player was born in Malta and moved to Australia when they were one and was entirely developed by NSWRL and an NRL club while having a connection to NSW. Should they be robbed of playing for the state they feel they belong to because of such ludicrous rules.

Here are the facts. Josh Papalii was entirely developed by QRL and the Raiders, Papalii represented Queensland at school boy level and uttered the quote about being entirely Queenslander. Then the hopeless wankers at New Zealand Rugby League who cannot produce a decent player themselves started putting the hooks in. Trying to pressure him based on his family connections with New Zealand. The right decision has been made. He is now going to play rep league with the people who developed him and who he actually remembers living in their country.

All the kiwi supporters in this thread are being precious. Why do they want someone playing for them who literally cannot remember living in their country ? That they haven't put a red cent into developing.

Not really thats the entire point behind the concept of SOO you f**king buffoon. Josh Papalii's RL origin is Logans brothers and Souths Logan. Can a single cry baby Kiwi dispute this fact ?

He has zero RL connections with New Zealand.

Whats that got to do with him playing for Australia over NZ? Thats what the choice should come down to, not a SOC side vs a country. I have no problem if SOC didn't come into it at all he had chosen to play for Australia over NZ

NZ should just offer him a stack of cash and see what happens.

Logan Brothers, Souths Logan and the Canberra Raiders are all RL entities based in the country of Australia. Please feel free to list any RL clubs he has played for that play out of New Zealand in his RL career.

 Nice he played club league in Australia, I see that and raise you playing Representative League for New Zealand.

Playing for an Australian club in the NRL should be a factor in what country you play for :lol:

Even if its about the money its also a fair point. He would have to play like 50 games for New Zealand to make up 1 full SOO season. That is simply a crazy difference in money. Also hardly Josh Papalii's fault. However, he had always said he was a Queenslander until good ole can't develop any players of their own New Zealand played the oh come on bro you are kiwi bro we need you bro card.

What the hell does that have to do with international rugby league?

He has also represented Queensland you silly clown.

He literally has played every game of RL in his entire life for an Australian side. From when he was a tiny little Josh Papalii til now. He is as Australian as anyone in that side despite the poor widdle us cry baby act from NZRL and its supporters in this thread. Oh please Josh you lived in New Zealand for a few weeks when you were a tiny child. Now I know you can't even remember living there and have no connection with RL in New Zealand but we can't produce any good players. Now we know you have said that you feel one hundred percent a queenslander but please, please mate.

Its New Zealand Rugby League that should be ashamed in this. Trying to turn a poor Queenslander (and lets face it they aren't the smartest, plus he has that Kiwi heritage so he would be struggling in the thinking department) into a kiwi. All that blatant brain washing/.

The development argument is just so redundant. There's only a certain amount of players that can be developed at the warriors. Aussie teams come and scout players at a young age, and as soon as their on the plane they are apparently eligible for state of choice.

Simple solution - develop enough Australians for your own club teams so you
Don't have to poach foreign players.

F**k me.... what are you 14 years old?

It would make sense as to why you think money, local development and family pressure are the new criteria for international eligibility.

Plenty.

So we don't apply SOO standards to international RL. What is it. Just if you have some loose connection with a country you play for them.

If international rugby league was treated like SOO for eligibility Josh Papalii would be Australian. Which thankfully common sense has prevailed and he has no declared it. Don't want to hear any crying about GI playing for QLD. He had some loose connection with Queensland bra, don't worry about common sense eligibility rules like where you have played every game of RL in your life and the country you have spent the vast majority of time in. Hey play for a country you can't even remember ever living in because you happened to have been born there because for some reason we want to baby the kiwis.
