Well you're the one that just said we have a great junior base. The point of bringing in Nolan was that we don't have a great junior base, and need to poach some from outside the local district.

I should say one of the biggest than. Just saying we set all this up but there has been no results.I expected once we got there than we would be solid.I also read that there are some very special players in our current under 20's side that some expect could be stars of future.
Of course a lot are young. But other then Twal I am not convinced about any other players.
I mean there where guys on here saying Alvaro can do a JOB if called upon. Seriously the guy is a plodder.Luky to be in Wenty if everyone was fit. To the guys like me relying on what I read on here I get a little disappointed when I watch them play.
Last week Fa;asso-Pauli and Tepai stood out hugely on any other person on the park. TBH I wouldn't be surprised if Matterson disappears too.Sure its early in season but a prodigy would be killing it. I grant that in his position being promoted may help as he would be playing with guys who catch his passes better and run better lines, but still I expect a little more TBH.

Our Harold Matthews are a fantastic team to watch. Great talent across the park and they play a great brand of footy.

Little red headed kid playing 6 Travis Turnbull has been braining them at the moment, signed by Nolan 12 months ago ironically under the Broncos noses

That kid again Travis Turnbull scores a freakish try weaving in and out of traffic he misses his attempt of conversion

Charge down for Parra and Curran scoops up the ball to race 40m downfield and complete both his hat trick and the game.

Conversion is successful.

Legendary stuff Forty, one request though, any chance you could pan to the scoreboard after each score, I had no idea who won SGB after the game was over, had to check Twitter updates, unless you want to take up commentating as well, lol.

I really liked the No 4 for SCB, he was a beast.

The entire HM team = beasts and they seem to be well drilled too.

I've been told our current crop of 15s and 16s are the best in the land and that's proven with how we're currently going in Mathews but our 18s are in a transitional period we're always going to struggle this season

Are we not strong in the Matthews every year though? What goes wrong between Matthews and NYC?

The junior setup shouldn't be judged on how much they win but on how many players graduate to NRL contracts. Last year's NYC squad produced the following players, all currently on NRL contacts:

Lavaka
Folau
Goodall
Li
Matterson
Dockar-Clay
Tanginoa
Pritchard
Kamikamica
Newbigging
Pauli
Moeroa

Not all of them will become genuine first graders but twelve is a massive number of contracted graduates. Not many NYC sides contain that many at once, and it's not the sort of thing you should expect two years in a row. In fact the nature of the NYC salary cap means we are likely paying for last year's success this year.

What happens is players turn 18 and are able to sign legally binding contracts. This means plenty of clubs don't bother with junior 'development' (i.e. poaching) until SG Ball. The fact they care more means their teams become more competitive between Matts and Ball, which means our Harold Matts graduates are now playing against stronger teams.

Well I did suspect this was the case. The next question is why do we not focus on buying better players from elsewhere for the SG Ball?

Well we do, and our SG Ball team is always competitive, but there's no reason for us to dominate Ball the way we do in Matts.

Will do mate, or at least figure out something equally effective on my end.
