I said everyone likes to say - Personally i doubt he would get it up these days and thats why he is so good and focussed on whats he is doing now

Game will be played at Guildford's McCredie Oval at 2pm on Saturday due to the Cowboys not able to play on Monday afternoons/nights.

Good to see Nifo Seve make his debut for the team. Quick dummy half that should come on and provide some spark. Shame that Denzal Tonise isn't in the team, thought he was playing fairly well.

Atini Gafa - imo best position is on the wing where he can really use his power game. Scored 4 tries on debut and has scored a couple more over his past few games. Not the fastest player running around but can still find his way to the try-line. Hasn't shone in any of his games but doesn't appear to let the game pass him by.

Faimanifo Seve - Started his career at the Bulldogs where he was an outside back and then was moved into the halves. Not happy with what the Bulldogs were doing his family moved him over to the Eels. Played all of last year in the #9 jersey and was decent in getting out and antagonising the defence from what I could see, he'll work really well off the bench. Has been playing dummy half for the Guildford Owls in the Sydney Shield competition for the past few weeks after being injured in the pre-season.

Aaron Pene - Able to cover the back-row, centre, and wing. Started off this year playing a few games for us on the wing and at least 1 game at centre, and 1 from the bench. Solid player, made a fair few line-breaks early on when playing on the wing and was connecting well with his partner, especially in the game against his former club the Bulldogs. Good to see him back in the team, has good go forward and is mobile enough to not be a liability in defence.

Interestingly it looks like Dockar-Clay has made the final transition to hooker. AFAIK ZDC has never played at DH in the NYC.

And I wonder if he'll still be at the club next year.

He wasn't worth the big money. Not to us anyway. We were better off freeing up space for upgrades to French and Dargan.

Forgetting the individuals involved in the discussion above, how good an indication of future ability is NSW U18s selection? Obviously not perfect, but hopefully not as bad as the equivalent criteria in cricket, where you get a bunch of kids from certain schools who barely get to play first grade, let alone first class cricket.

I'm very surprised that none of our boys were picked given that Dargan was selected in the Australian schoolboys last year and that we had 4 players in the NSW under 16's just 2 years ago.

The under 18s team is basically whichever 18 year olds are regulars in the Holden Cup. Our only 18 year olds are Tonise, Dargan, Doolan and Layoun, and none of them have been regulars.
